Just wondering what everyone uses as I'm thinking of giving mine a good clean and getting a da polisher to get all the swirls out of the paint with (after a lot of practice on a scrap bonnet)

What do people use and what results do you get?

I use chemical guys stuff atm and it does a brilliant job. If people haven't heard of them its worth a look i use the black light stuff and dear god the paint is sooo smooth after it feels like wet glass.

This pic is after a snow foam clean stripping everything off with washing up liquid then drying and going over with 2 coats of black light then sealing with the v7 spray

i plan on getting some more stuff from chemical guys sadly the stuff i have priced up is about 300 quid with the polisher so i shall have to wait a while :(

i also have coilovers coming so don't worry about the massive arch gap :)

T cut. If not a polish and just a wax we buy a product from a specialist company. It's brilliant stuff, they also sell a tar remover which is brilliant! Il get the name of the company when I get home, my dads a car dealer and he relys on there products and always has!

I just use a local jetwash. I washed mine for the third time in 7 months today. I washed it on Tuesday and it had a nice coat of dust within 48-hours. The crap on the road outside of my house constantly gets kicked up by the trucks from the building site and people that do 45mph (30mph road). There is a couple of people that do about 50mph down my road, kicking dust up all over the place.

I use supagard about £250 for a decent set...

Perks of working for a Peugeot main dealer is that the valeters use it on the sold cars so I get them to keep some aside every now and again

Some turtlewax car shampoo and £5 bottle of demonshine is all I use and it works great, snowfoam etc just seems like a gimick to me...

Snow foam is brilliant if i want to give my car quick clean pressure washer out snow foam the car wait for it to run off go again then rinse it then either dry it with a microfibre or give it a drive around i paid about 15 quid for a gallon bottle i think should last well over a year washing once a week :) if you don't touch the car when your removing all the dirt and such you cant scratch it as much:)

Luckily i park on a drive so its away from the road so doesn't get too covered in crap

I have just sighed up to detailing world and people on there spend hours and hours cleaning cars.

A good 6-8 hours + usually for... Usually set myself a whole day so I can really detail it.

its good stress relief getting your wax on/wax off!!

Although trying to get in all the corners/edges of my old rx2's was sometimes stressful

I use a turtlewax shampoo at the min.. Got a 5lt bottle for 5quid! Had it well over a year, still over half left. Then usually turtlewax colour polish. Although I've never bought any, always used my Dads stuff.

snow foam is not a gimmik bassicly snow foam lifts the dirt of the car when you leave it to dwell then u jet wash it off

it is used more as a prewash to get as much dirt as you can off the car meaning less chance of creating swirl marks and defects like scratching the paint with dirt particals

i use TFR, jet it off then give it a shampoo, there's no point spending two hours cleaning a car this time of year as it will be in the same state in a couple of hours.

I'm going to try it on the Polo next time it gets a wash and the weather aint to bad. Usually it gets a sponge and the £5 for 5L Turtle Wax shit or whatever it was that was on offer at the supermarket.

The valeters use it on all the new cars sold, depending what you got as there's a few different things its supposed to give a gleem for 6+ months and during that time you just need to hose the dirt off and it'll look good again.

The seat protection stuff is good aswell as if you spill something it stops the seat absorbing it in so you got time to wipe it up

My new one was done the other day (bare in mind I took the picture with a 3 mega pixel phone )

Also that's all light reflections not paint imperfections or anything else

I use a few different waxes but recently I've been using simoniz original carnuaba wax, its quite hard work to buff but it leaves a great shine and beads water very well, lasts ages too!

I wash the car as often as i can even when its been garaged,looks great compared to even brand new cars, not bad for a 23 year old polo!

I bought a tescos own brand detailing set for a reduced price of 99p its lasted me about a year works ok haha

depends on your paint/bodywork condition really.. i have 23 year old paint thats never been properly polished in its life and rust spots that have been

neglected so a sub 10 quid bottle of car shampoo and a polish every few months does the trick!

Did borrow a mates random orbital a while back and just did the roof and bonnet..

I'm more in the middle, I have certain pricy products, but my paint is in ok condition so I like to look after it.

What polisher are you going to buy? You'll be wasting your money buying a pricy 1 if your only using it on your car, it's more a matter of the person using the mop and a compo on compounds/heads, I used a cheap sealy mop for about a year, infact I done my car with it! I've since brought a rupes model tho.

Washed mine the other day for the first time since 2010.

Couple of capfuls Halfords wash'n'wax in a bucket, tea towel to splash it on (couldn't find a sponge), hosepipe to rinse it off, then wiped it dry with a squegee (windscreen wiper). Job jibbled.

That'll do for another couple of years, life's too short for that shit..
