BMW Drivers

Featured Replies

People say Audi drivers are the 'new' BMW drivers. Well there still seem to be a few repping the old school bimmer driving habits and attitudes.

Driving home today I had some guy attempt to kill me (and, I'm not sure he realised, himself too!). I was on a dual carriage way doing the limit, overtaking some fella on the outside. Any way, up steams this 53 plate 3 series cabriolet right up my arse. I indicated to get into the slow lane and before the first relay tick is done, he's practically in my boot. Now this is where I must admit a little bit of blame here, but as he passed I showed him the middle finger, fair enough I thought for him selfishly wanting the exact same piece of tarmac I had. He progressed and then suddenly slammed on his anchors, coming up along side me. idiot kept flooring it then braking, obviously wanting my attention. Being the typical bisuit arsed Brit I am (and seeing he had a mate with black, greasy hair I add) I ignored him, hoping he'd get bored and fuck off. I should be so lucky. Instead he keeps making movements like he's going to crash into me. Silly dick obviously didn't recognise his car was substantially more valuable than mine and any of the following traffic would immediately finger him as the instigator of any resulting crash. I continued to ignore this childish behaviour. So he ups the ante, pulling in frony of me (mind we're going around 70 here) and slamming his brakes on! Now luckily 9n brakes are as good as any carbon ceramics, and I have the reactions of a feline, so all was good. But he was obviously trying to get me to crash into him, then pass the blame. All in the name of a good lesson no doubt.

Now as said, I'm not totally blameless as I did show him the long one, but this must surely be an over reaction, especially since his initial driving was dangerous.

Thing is, exactly the same thing happened last year on a chock full M40. Same brand, but this time a 6 series. Now if i had been in my old beat up mk2, I'd have had a good mind to call the fuckers bluff and plow into him!

I'm going to await the inevitable tirade of abuse for swearing first, and the bleating of those who must drive exclusively rear wheel driven cars, but I tend to drive safely the majority of the time and apologise/look sheepish if I do piss people off, I never tail gate, and certainly wouldn't engage in banger racing style intimidation. Yeah, you have a big car, but you must be a bitch because you drive like a idiot

Moral, don't swear at other drivers children

I drive a bmw =) but yea as you said it was all caused from you giving him the bird, but a massive over reaction!

What I tend todo, rather than get 'road rage' and swear at people, if you just point and laugh its so comical!

You just notice it more when its a BMW cause there is the stereotype. I drive my VR6 the same as the M3 and people seem to go out of there way to annoy you when your in a BMW.

I'll be the first to admit that I've got really bad road rage. I don't go looking for trouble but I won't accept somebody else doing something dangerous to me when I'm minding my own business just so they can gain ten yards..

I had somebody driving like an idiot just before christmas, he was tailgating me really close. I was doing 40mph on a 40mph road, when we approached a small roundabout he overtook just beforehand expecting me to let him in, only I did'nt and put my work's van into the side of his peugeot 207. He pulled up about one hundred yards after the roundabout, I let him get out first and I was totally ready for a fight but he was a skinny little g1mp who had been giving it the biggun behind the steering wheel, I told work and they said sound. He did'nt take it any further either

I've had people tailgate me before like you OP, the way I would have handled it is to not move over. If I'm in front of them I'm in charge, they'll have to undertake. I was on the A46 somewhere in Leics one night, go to overtake a lorry, car behind me but it's a long, long way back. Next thing I know it's flashing me. Again I was in the works van, I decided to stay level with the lorry for the next couple of miles so he could'nt get past either of us, eventually I decided to let him past but I made him undertake me, surprise surprise it was a beema. He got owned hard for flashing me

Anyone that tailgates me gets a burned bumper, fuckers.

Dakota, I'll sometimes drive slow if someone looks in a super rush or hang about overtaking, but I was moving over to take my exit. The guy just couldn't wait to get past me. Another second and I wouldn't have minded at all, but he literally had to overtake me whilst I was still in the same lane! Funny thing too, this incident happened on the A46!

Mario, I didn't cause anything, his stupid attitude did.

Collie, do you have a flame thrower exhaust? Seriously considering one, more for laughs. But I can see it's usefullness as a deterent to bumper riding wankers

Heartagram, your avatar seems to match your BMW road owning attitude  You're probably right, i probably do make a mental note when wronged by a bimmer

Haven't used hand signals for about 20yrs - nothing but trouble doing that.

I never get personal with other drivers, and yeah it is easy. Other people just aren't my problem, i'm more likely to be amused than anything else, and i always prefer idiots to be in front of me where i can see them.

I tend to know if a vehicle is being driven by an undesirable, and i'm happy for them to do one.

(and seeing he had a mate with black, greasy hair I add)

bmw, black greasy hair, near banbury , hmmm, What are you getting at?! TBF they were probably a pair of drug dealers (might aswell add to the stereotyping)

There does seem to be a step towards bullish drivers going back to bmws lately. I see pleanty of them on my way towards oxford, especially on a monday morning when they are all in a rush to get back to london after a weekend away in there over-inflated countryside holiday homes.

Giving psycho drivers the middle finger will almost always induce road rage, not worth the hassle, just let them go, safe in the knowledge they aren't going to crash into you. They'll find a tree to impale themselves on, sooner or later.

My avatar is way before my BMW! You get treat different having a BMW. People seem to go out of there way not to let you out at junctions/roundabouts/trying to switch lanes.

This is now an 'asians in BMW's' thread..

i drive a e39 528 bimmer and still see newer bmw driver being tools behind me

had one a few weeks ago mid late twenties late 3 series private plate blacked out windows (not stereotypical at all) coming the coventry road in brum 40mph 4 lanes

one of those shit dawoo's infront of me doin 38mph and the asian bmw driver behind in the 3rd lane which takes you the same direction as the 4th lane, flashing his lights and sitting on my bumper so i give him the middle one, then he gets along side me with his missus in the car shouting all sorts weilding one of those baseball bat steering wheels locks so i politley offer him out of his car to which he replies ' you get out little white pussy boy' i'll him to fuck off and he follows me for 2-3 miles then he then throws some thing at my car, so i launched my brand 3/8 extension straight at his windscreen but unfortunatly no damage was caused what a waste of an extension that was anyway he carries following swerving towards me several times so then i deceid to call the police as it was way out of hand and then i just waved the phone at him and laughed (wished i didnt now) he then drove off (like a pussay white boy).

but the local th police then phoned me back a few days later informing me that he had been involved in instances like this before and other such problems which he then said drugs may or way not (wink wink) have been involved (and absolutly no sterrotyping happend that day)

all in all his was a little c**t thh=at completely over reacted and he was way out of order

I do this  To Audis too though.

If they indicate and wait patiently to move in front of me I am more than happy to let them do whatever. But more often than not, its 'gun it off the lights and cut in front of you before you have the chance to object'.

I got tailgated for no reason buy some guy in a E38 7-series a while back. He caught up to me doing 60mph and on the corner before a (very) long straight he got right up my chuff but he had to wait as two cars were coming the other way, about 200 yards. That hole time he sat right behind me so naturally he got the back & fourth hand signal. He then starting shouting (through two windows...), cut in front of me, stopped and reversed at me. This straight is just under 3/4 of a mile long so why the hell he thought he needed to drive like that in a car with damn near 200bhp I will never know. Oh and he did 60mph the rest of the way back too.

Saw it on ebay recently, got his name, number and facebook now too :-)

No they haven't, this is just footage of normal BMW behaviour

Why though? If I sit at a junction/roundabout/try to switch lanes in my Golf I always get let out sooner than in the BMW. In the BMW half the time you have to push in cause no fucker will let you out!

It also seems acceptable to shout abuse as well. I got called a idiot for parking in the parent and child bay at Morrisions the other day. I had my son with me but apparently because I didn't get him out of the car within 2 seconds it means that I am just using that bay because I'm an arrogant idiot.

Sorry but this whole BMW driver thing is just garbage. You always get people driving like twats. Its the person not the car.

Ok so I've been a bmw driver forr several years. I dont do any of that stuff but admit to getting frustrated seeing drivers of other marques using the bmw lane on the motorway.

To be honest, I would do the same to anyone who I think is going to drive erratically, whatever car they are in. And as much as I hate to admit it, its not always BMWs. But there is a reason the stereotype is what it is. New VW drivers are getting just as bad nowadays too.

I just like to make life awkward for dickheads :unibrow: I know its petty.

Outside Lane Owners Club

Typical beemer driver not satisified with just one post like the rest of us...

I think you're crazy :ninja:

what i can't stand is some one doing 70 or less in the outside lane when the inside is clear, if someone wants to speed let them.

since there isn't any law saying i cannot do it, i just go for a nearside over take and let them carry on in the outside lane.

there's no point getting into a rage about something you cannot control.

theres no law on undertaking someone?? wut??? :s
