Has anyone ever took points of there liecence?

Featured Replies

Like said above has anyone ever took points of there liecence?

I got an SP30 back in April 2010 so coming up 3 years, am I right in thinking you can take them of after 3 years? Reason being I'm after a change of job and having a clean licence will make this easier for me.

So yeah if anyone has done this in the past, how do you no when you can take them off? Do they DVLA contact you? And when you can take them off how do you go about it?

Cheers mate so that shows me how to do it but still no information on how il be able to tell when I can take them off

3 years from the date of the conviction you can take them off, they won't contact you.

I thought it was 5 years? Insurance company's etc ask about stuff in the last 5 years

Yeh you have to tell your insurance about anything within 5 years, but points only last 3. No idea why!

I think they don't tend to penalise you if the points have now cleared anyway.

But the date of conviction will be on your licence with the points, 3 years from that date :)

its 4years from date of offence as you never get convicted of speeding because its a statuary fine and 3 penalty points unless your going so fast that they take you to court for it and ban you normally

some wierd laws concerning driving heres one i found out a while back through a mate of mine who was stupid enough to drink and drive he was convicted for failing to provide the endorsement only stays on his licence for 4 years instead of 11years for drink driving crazy if you ask me as he failed the road side test but failed to provide an accurate reading in the police station

My bad, they stay on your licence for 4 years that's true, but they only count towards the total number of points on your licence for 3.

For example if you get 3 points, then 3 years later get another 3, the total on your licence will still only be 3 however it will show as 6 on your licence.

If you get another 3 points in say 2 years, the total will be 6.
