If it doesn't have a Visa, Visa Electron, Master Card, Amex, Diners Club or Nandos logo on the front then No.

The don't take CP discount cards either :(

Legally, they should take loo paper with the correct writing on it. That is what a cheque is.

As long as there is a promise of a specific payment, with a signature, that should suffice - but most clients will require a guarantor, so you also show as such (as in a bank card offering such).

I heard a story once about a guy who was so pissed off with his bank that he wrote them a cheque out on a paving slab and they had to accept it.
