I got a mk2f polo it just bogged down one night and hasnt started since iv read it could be a hall sender has anyone else had this problem and what does the hall sender do thanks guys

The hall sender in the distributor 'tells' the ignition system when to send out a spark.

As there could be other problems which have caused it not to start (you normally get lots of cutting out and then not starting 'till it has stood for a while when the Hall sender is 'on its way'.

Start with the basics: Is there petrol in the tank?

Is petrol getting to the engine?

Have you got a good spark? (A 'good' spark is blue/white, if the spark is orange/red, it probably isn't good enough to fire the mixture)
