hi all I've just purchased a 1991 vw polo coupe 1.3, the problem i have is that when you turn your ignition off and remove the keys, if i have left you heater on when you pull your main beam stalk on and hold it with the ignition off and keys removed it will start the heater fan and also the wipers if they are to on the on position, very strange, i have been told that it could have the wrong relay installed but the problem is i cannot find anywhere what the correct relay should be or even if its the wrong 1, can i also add this will only happen when the head lights are on position 2, many thanks in advance.

I suspect the headlight switch is at fault. As there is a ignition feed to it that tells them the lights can go on, so maybe when you pull the stalk, power is going through the switch and into the ignition. Try disconnecting it and see if it still does it.
