How do I check that lol? Complete novice

On the top of the gearbox (can't find a picture) is the reverse gear switch (two pin connector with BLACK/GREEN & BLACK/BLUE wires) remove the connector then with a paperclip short the two pins together, ignition ON and the reverse lights should be ON, if they are replace the switch if not it's a wiring check back to the body computer and if that's OK £££££

reverse lights arent mandatory nor a MOT fail so dont panic too much. I've not had one since i dont know when.

Not required, I've got 2 fog lamps, not had a reverse in a good few years.

Thing is on the likes of this model, the reverse switch not only puts the lights on but also tells the computer it's in reverse to allow the likes of some of the options like, parking sensors to be activated, auto rear wipe, put the air/heater/aircon into recirc mode so your not sucking in your own exhaust fumes into the cabin as you go backwards!!

I know My first posting was going to be "what car etc" then I spotted the 6R :-)

Still no joy... Cars booked into vw next week as wipers are now not working aswell... Wouldn't mind about the reverse light not working its just the little bulb thing that glows in the dash does my head in haha! Thanks again for all the help guys
