Bronze C Reg mk2 golf GL

Featured Replies

First time on the forum so am new to some of this. I brought this from down south about 6 months ago and haven't got round to posting about it yet so finally...

It's a 1986 1.8 GL 5 door I got it for a good price but it had some issues: the sun roof leaked and I think the window seals were leaking in too and because of this one of the previous owners thought it would be a good idea to cut squares out of the carpet in the foot wells, witch is really annoying as its the brown carpet. The o/s sill has patches welded in and just been stone chipped over each arch has got a dent or a scratch and it needs a n/s/f wing. It Has a few more bits and bobs up with It which i a going to sort. I had a word with my boss And he let me keep it in our garage at work which is awesome :). Anyway pictures...

I also purchased a stainless 4 branch manifold but I have no picture.

I got myself a g60 rocker cover and had it sandblasted and chrome powder coated

I also removed my screen wash bottle and cut the brackets off and started smoothing them. And I fitted a slimline rad cooling fan. And I've fitted my battery in the boot I just need to sort out the wiring for it now.

Picked up a set of coilovers got to adjust the height when I get the wheels I want

I finally managed to find a set of banded mk2 golf smoothies and in the sizes I wanted 8j and 7.5j winner :) trial fit before paint and arch work. Need to take the helper springs out of the fronts as there wound all the way down at that.

Love these in this colour. Should be a good project, But i think you got your prioritys wrong. You should have started by sorting that shocking welding out. Thats some of the worst i've seen. That one plate is over the wing. The wing is now welded to the body.

Yeah it is a really shit job they haven't even bothered to tidy it up :/ but I'm half way through it now anyway.
