84' Breadyy!

Featured Replies

This car belongs to Mattieboi6N, I just help him work on her... More so than he does

Figured id join and put a thread up seeing as the amount of effort I put in because hes too busy eating donuts and I'm his co pilot whenever he goes to meets or to collect stuff.

Its a 1.3 MH lowered with 80/60 PhilJ spring set.

when he picked her up:

since that pic' we've changed the front dampers and springs, removed the stupid "ebay special" stickers and done away with the cherry bomb (overly loud)

set of seats from Matt-C? the ones with vw written all over them in multi-colour.

tank/filler neck welded up and tank painted.

had a water leak coming in from the battery tray area where it had rusted out then someone drilled holes for subs' and attempted to repair it with what looked like concrete, plastic bags and then fiber glass, Very poor and unsightly job. Anyway cleaned it up and riveted a panel in then fiber glassed it properly, rust killered the rest of the tray area and then a generous helping of underseal.

Whilst waiting for stuff to dry we deleted the front bumper...

had one good run out of her a few weeks with no hiccups, but now every time she goes out she cuts out without keeping the revs' on. Its a issue with the carb, somebody's played around with it and the easiest and best option for reliability is a new carb or carbs' 8-)

best/most recent shots from last night when we attempted to go up to MK cruise (40 mile roundtrip), the dreaded cutting out syndrome set in after about 3 or 4 miles so she was retired for his 6N.

Got some small plans for this mostly on the engine got a 4 branch mani and stainless centre from wideboi. Hoping to get a bike carb set up soon so can make it reliable and more tuneable also looking for a gt cam. I feel replacing the the pier burg carb is better than trying to get it running well. We will be sure to keep you posted with small updates as we go.

Don't think the GT cam will fit boss, unless the engine's been swapped out already. Doesn't this have the rocker with 8 botls?

Looks nice, though I much prefer them with bumpers. Looks solid and a good base

Yeah engines been swapped was told it was an mh its the 3 bolt rocker cover Type. It looked alright with the bumper but it took a nock via the previous owner and was pretty smashed and indicators fell out after driving on bumpy road so we pulled it of and I think it looks pretty cool. Yeah the car is solid only patch of rust now is the inner wing were the filler neck rusted out but that has all been treated and painted so should be good

We'd pull up and the indi would be hanging out, only a matter of time before they would fall out completely or some Herbert knick em'.

got a welder and plenty of p38, surely we can make any cam fit...

then Matt felt the need to get some bucket seats so 300+ miles and quite a few quid later we picked up these old school cobras (there is another).

Been reupholstered and sat in storage since, came on 6n bases so off came those and fab'd up another set on mk2 bases. Just need to give the bases another coat paint then will update with them fitted.

Bike carbs and inlet manifold purchased as well as exhaust manifold. Brakes need upgrading to if anyone has any...?

Seats look really good, makes the interior look clean as hell for some reason!

Good work

Yeah the full carpeted rear made a hell of a difference to the looks and it's really practical as boots space is huge. The seas are really nice and surprisingly comfy for bucket. Thanks mate

Looking good, what manifold did you use for the bike carbs? just thinking what is the best option

  • 1 month later...

^^ late reply the manifold way a home made job wasn't the best looking but done the job.

Well a few weeks have past since doing anything engine wise its all back to standard. Being as I had the week off and the weathers good I was going to get all the body work Done and smooth f the bits that aren't needed one everying behind the front bumper and indicators rear badges and wiper whole. But I'm fresh out of motivation so its just sitting on my driving, until I find somewhere that sells motivation nothing is going to get done. :(
