My Ickle 1.4

Featured Replies

Hi All! I’d just like to introduce myself…I’m James!

I guess I’m a noob at this, as this is my first ever Build Thread

But here goes… And the Story begins!

I brought my little Polo at the start of the month! From a lovely family that kept the car great condition! But as a young driver my insurance was through the roof!

But I got everything I wanted from the car… VW Polo! Black, 3 Door, Electric Windows and Remote central locking! So I couldn’t be happier! :p

3BBF0D78-C3DC-4DD3-9C19-0FE2EAE07FFC-150

As you all can see from the images it’s completely STANDARD! But this is soon to all change!

So my future plans…

- Engine:

I’ve been looking into an Engine conversion to a 1.8 GTI Depends on money! :paranoid:

- Suspension:

I’m looking at budget Coilovers at the moment, but I’m stuck between Ta Technix’s or FK AK Pro Street Coilovers, any advice on which ones to get? :retard:

- Wheels and Tyres:

Secret ;) (In all honesty I don’t have a clue)

- ICE and Security:

New sound - systems possibly a false floor boot build, dual subs ;)

The list will defiantly get bigger, I’m sure of it, as soon as I flick through these 9n threads!

Well cheers for reading my tread so far! And Any advice is grateful! :-)

Go Fk's do not get ta's!

Good base and welcome to the 9n department of club polo, enjoy your stay, any questions just holla

hi welcome, i also have a 9n polo and i'm 17 so my insurance is also alot. I'm also looking for some new coilovers. So far, i've done small cheap mods that make a massive differnce to the car. I would probably chrome trim the lower grill and get some fog lights.

i can tell you from experience ta technix are awful coilovers! my polo has the worst ride imaginable!

I run FK's and would definitely recommend them!

Cheers Liam! I've seen your car, looks sweet!! :p

It is the ride i'am looking into, whether its comfortable for a cheap coilover set, On www.carparts-tuning.co.uk there is some bump stops, are they worth buying?

Hey Buddy!

Insurance just is a pain in the butt!

i can only afford cheap ones, so by the sounds of peoples opinion I'm gonna order FK's

I think i might take a trip to my local scrappy see if i can get some fog lights for it!

Your car looks low! beautiful! is that with out the adjusters and helper springs?

As said by everyone else, welcome to the 9n part of the forum  look forward to seeing where this thread goes. I have ta technix and they are a little bouncy but i expected that for just shy of 180 quid. Need any advice/help dont hesitate to ask :p

As above (few posts up)

FK's I use them on my 9N

I had TA's on the 6N

Although diffrent car / shocks ect...

The FK's seemed better built in my opinion and worth the extra what £20 ~ £40 ?

Must have done about 2,000 miles on my coilovers and there still spot on (as you should expect)

Cheers for your input dude! its good to get others opinions! :)

the Fk's are about £192.00 from Venom Motor Sport, so spending an extra couple of penny's sounds worth it!

So today i started to look at a few alloys :p and i was really taken with BBS Lensos and Audi Pepper pots!

Any other suggestions welcome

avoid audi pepperpots, they're not very wide and have a terrible offset

As above, also to get a polo sat nice on 15's you'll be waisting money and time unless you have air.

Nice set of wheels for a 9n are 16-17's et low 30's and about 7-7.5 wide just to fit nicely.

Mine are 6.5j 16" ET 43 but have 30 and 25mm spacers on so the ET is lowered rears 13 and fronts 18. Sat perfect ;P

mine's pretty stanced out and that's with 17" 7.5j et32 audi tt ronals on with 25mm spacers on rear and 20mm on front, i have had to flare my rear arches and fit 1.5 degree camber shims to take the width though! :p

But your cars naughty ;) aha just needs a big engine now :p

cheers bro, really appreciate it :) and yeah adjusters and helpers binned and front wound up slightly.

As for the wheels I would leave the pepperpots,I bought a set first, actually hands up who bought a set for their 9n!? I think a few people on here did, as said above it is difficult to get low enough to pull 15s off, the Lenso BSX's are quite nice though, a few of my friends run them, they do look very close to RS's in the metal!

But your cars naughty ;) aha just needs a big engine now :p

i'm guessing this was aimed at me aha i have the mk2 golf for the big engine, can't wait to get the vr6 lump dropped in :p

Ahaha that's a fair point.

I had a set of pepperpots!! ;) sicx's old 1's

Best go to 16's or 17's bud don't waist your money on anything smaller unless you get the standard 14's banded as that works quite well :)

My 9N on pepperpots...
