An Idea for Insurance companies

Featured Replies

Having just done the annual round of comparison sites, company websites and phoning companies/brokers, and getting quotes from £270 to £2500 :? (51 years old 7+NCB No mods <7000mls/year, fully comp, clean license 30+ years) I had a thought with the likes of the comparison sites why could'nt you do like a reverse search, enter all your personal details etc then it comes back with the cheapest car (make/model etc) for you to insure ??

Thats not a bad idea.

Makes searching for cars easier too as you know roughly what you can afford.

Because then they wouldn't make so much money off the premiums and 0870 phone numbers.

Agreed, but it might reduce the amount of un-insured vehicles on the road, as people could see what car they could afford to insure, rather than buying a car and then finding they can't afford to insure it, this would then reduce the insurance companies costs in claims for uninsured losses and so lower the premiums for all of us???

There could be something in that suggestion for the price comparison site insurers.. but bare in mind that not all insurers are on there.

Also, most people do an insurance check before they buy a car.

Not really no, because once you've had an FPN for no insurance, they then can charge you whatever they want, because if you get caught again, you're getting banned.

It's a good idea but for it to work the system will have to get quotes off every insurer involved for every make, model and year of car.

That could be tens of thousands of quotes which have to be processed to give you the cheapest car.
