New car time! - Cant decide.

Featured Replies

Today i got confirmation of a new job and i start early april

The job MAY require me to use a car for the job , visiting out on site and stuff.

I get paid 31p per mile , although i believe you can claim off the gov for the rest to make it upto 45p So it could be a great earner.

I've been looking at getting a 5 door as i currently have a 3 door polo 9n PD100. Want something with a bigger boot too with a bit more grunt.

I was looking at a 1.8T Octavia VRS after being in my mates A3. Although tax , fuel ect would kill me.

After having 3 polos i don’t want to move on although times change.

So hypothetically if this job requires a few hundred miles a month what would YOU buy?

* 5 Door

* Decent boot

* Not slow

*diesel

*Ideally German

*Budget of about £4,000 (can trade in this polo , even if its a low price)

I cant make up my mind.

I have looked at Octavia's (PD) , A3 1.9TDI , VW bora , Polo GT (seem expensive) , Mk4 Golf GT (also seem expensive)

Bare in mind , My insurance would probs go up too as i would have to declare its for work use (If and when)

insurance wise , I'm currently paying £100 a month for this 9N sport and my renewal is up in 2/3 months

Current insurance quotes , for a 1.8T A3 are also about £100 ~ £110 a month so i should be able to afford a bigger car plus I'm also now 21

My current direction is maybe going skoda , poor mans audi although you can pickup some newer 2006+ cars at a decent price

I'm stuck with what to get , I want a 1.8T so bad but ... cant , not at the moment. Maybe as a weekend toy oneday.

I need to now think practical, Although will end up doing engine mods if there cheap enough to insure and leaving the car pretty much standard outside

Fabia Vrs?, any remapped VAG tbh.

e46 BMW 330D, and a re-map will see some smiles :)

Anything with a PD & a remap tbh. VRS or a GTTDI?

BMW 320d Touring

Golf GTTDI

Another vote for the Mazda 6 again here or any Volvo with a d5 in (They sound good, never mind for a diesel)

Mazda 6 uses the same engine as the mondeo/C5 etc, and as such suffer from the usual dual mass fly wheel problem which costs about £1k to replace cos you have to do the clutch and master cylinder at the same time. It also makes you sound like your car is fucked haha

Decent spec'd E46 is a nice place to be. Cheap too.

Aye, nice 330D and youre onto a winner!
