About 5 years ago I had a problem with the central locking on our LHD import 97 Polo SE 1.4, nothing worked so I swapped the bi-directional air pump for a used replacement. All fine for ages. Recently the doors started to lock/unlock very slowly and now we just hear the pump running until its programmed shutoff and have to lock and unlock the doors manually. I can't find any signs of air leaks inside the door or filler cap activators, all the vacuum pipes are in tip-top condition and I am wondering if the pump might have an internal leak. Being loath to spend out out loads on a new pump 'just in case', I wondered if any other members had suffered the same problem.

Slow action MAY be down to an air or vacuum leak,but the problems with the pump is GENERALLY down to the printed circuit board, so if your pump is running, I would tend to look elsewhere for the problem.

Could it be down to the locks being frozen???
