Car is back from the bodyshop, here is how the bumper looks now with the cut out for the intercooler

Intercooler does stick out a bit, but dont have much choice in the matter

And the aerocatches

Work was done by Lemass who i highly recommend

Next on the list is the wiring for the fans, EGT and boost/oil gauges and then some prep work for the MOT

Nice to see it finally coming together mate, not a fan of the intercooler sticking out but each to there own and as you say no choice in the matter.

I would have prefered the intercooler to be hidden behind the grill but with the way the engine was located in the bay, it has caused all the front end components to all shift forward

I could have used a slimmer and longer intercooler but they suffer from heat soak

So on the balance of things, I'm happy with it

I had James from OBD Works come down yesterday who tested my fans, the fans were working when on a manual feed and the switch itself was receiving a 12v supply but the circuit would not complete when the engine was at the correct temperature.

So we are pretty sure that its the switch itself, so wil replace it and test it again

Whilst he was here, he also wired in my gauges and pinned in my EGT

So a bit more progress made

hmmmm dont like that front end at all plus hows that gonna sit with an arsey copper and the whole sharp edges sticking out thing???

dont bodge this together rushing to get it going after doing so much work and effort mate

I'm not that worried about cops, it doesnt stick out that far

Guess I'll find out in time

Also i dont see it as bodge? I did think it through before passing it to the bodyshop and am pretty happy with how it turned out

Could i ask what u think is the bodge? is it just the bumper cutout?

yeah just the bumper cut out mate....it makes it look like fitment was an after thought :(

In the middle of all this work I'm going to ask the most uninteresting question...

What size are those exhaust tips? I wanted to get some just like those but still guessing on a nice looking size, but your choice looks spot on.

Car sounds wicked. Congrats on an awesome build.

I see where you are coming from, I'm not 100% happy with it sticking out

But its compromise.. i think that the intercooler sticking out is balanced out by the performance that this intercooler will give me

cant turn back now... bumper is already cut

Good news and Bad news

Good news is car now runs fairly sweet on idle and now have the fans working properly (the brand new fan switch i bought originally turned out to be faulty)

Bad news is that it doesnt drive well at all, it seems to struggle to move on its own power and brakes dont seem to work great either

This may be because the tracking is so far out, that each wheel is to pull the car in different directions, but I'm not sure if thats the main problem

So, getting very close to finishing now

I do have a pic of the gauges working tho 8-)

I wouldn't worry about it mate, when my car was finally finished the first time, i took it out on a test run and it was all over the road virtually undrive-able. Took it for tracking and it came out like a go-kart. You've altered that many things that everything's out of line.

Naz - How's this coming along now?

haven't done much tbh

just go and start the engine every so often

Just bought a house with a garage so will be moving the car in the next month or so

thats when il get the tracking done, once thats done, if the car doesnt drive well I'm going to hand it to a company to find out what the issue is

car idles fine but just wont drive smoothly

Been a long time since anything has been posted on here. Great build btw naz. Looking at doing this with my ,6n. Have you still got yours. Your thread has given me a lot of info on this type of conversion.
