6n airbag removal

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am sick if the passengers side airbag, to me it's totally pintless and I want to replace it with a glove box.

Does anyone know how it comes out? I have undone the two torx bolts to the top of the cubby hole under it, but that only lets you pull the bottom half of the airbag out, I've looked under it and can't really see any othr bolts etc.

Or course, i can always just rip it out but id rather take it out properly incase for whatevr reason i would want to put it back in again.

And also, for the wiring side of things, does anyone know what resistor I would need.

Thanks.

Removing

WARNING

Disconnect battery earth strap before working on electrical system.

– Unscrew cross-head screws -3- from passenger side storage compartment -4-.

– Remove cross-head screw -3-. Pull the airbag unit -1- out of the lower section of the dash panel and remove it from the supporting frame -2- (pay attention to the upper studs -arrows-).

WARNING

Electrostatic discharges may result in unintentional triggering of airbag. Therefore, the mechanic must electrostatically discharge him/herself before disconnecting the igniter and earth wires. This can be done by briefly touching the body or striker plate of the door.

– Separate airbag unit connector -5-.

Also have a look at this http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?...p;#entry2050569 The steering wheel airbag needs a 2 ohm resistor to fool the sytem so I'd assume the same applies for the passenger one ??
