3rd Party

Featured Replies

The situation goes i need to insure a car as cheap as i can, now i have access to my girlfriends dads fleet of cars however changing the insurance over etc is a pain and tbh my insurance usually goes up...

now whispers suggest if I'm fully comp then i can go 3rd party on another car aslong as said car is insured elsewhere? I'm currently with admiral and they dont offer it to anyone under 25, ill be 19 in a week or two and want to start my bike carb conversion so the polo will be off the road (Still insured) But i need to use one of his fleet cars in the meantime Which insurer would offer me the 3rd party cover, Admiral only offer it to over 25's so I'm also looking to change insurer :(

from my experience so far mate (4 years driving, different insurer each year) no insurance company will offer third party on other vehicles until you are 25. Sucks i know but we're high risks y'see.

I would personally look into multi-car with Admiral (Just saved myself £400 on my renewal) for both cars. Just insure the car that is off the road 3rd party only and the other fully comp.

Oh and add a parent or two as named drivers which will probably drop your quote by up to £100!

can't your girlfriends dad put you on the fleet insurance and you pay any difference?

this may well be cheaper and would be better for you and your girlfriends dad as you would be properly insured, most likely fully comp.

This would be the sensible and legal way to do it.

I'm sure you have to be 21 or 23 to be on that sorta insurance, that's how it goes with me and my dads anyway.

it depends on the insurer or in some cases the company some cover from 17 that was the case for one of the companies i did work for as they had young apprentices who needed to drive the companies cars and vans. but being as it was a quite a big company they might not have motor insurance in the usual sense.

This...

plus I guess his 'fleet' of cars are not £500 Polo's either so do you really want to be only 3rd party on £10,000's worth of car?
