Number plate position

Featured Replies

I am thinking of moving my number plate down from the middle of the bumper to the lower grille as I've seen a few other 9n's with the plate positioned there. Am I OK legally to have it there? Hopefully this doesn't sound like a stupid question but I wanted to be sure.

Its visible, the only problem I can see is that it faces downwards slightly but I don't think it stops it from being visible! Cheers for the reply :)

I think the exact rule is that it has to be forward of the front wheels and upright although I'm sure you'll be okay with it facing down a few degrees so long as it is completely visible.

You only need to look at any late model Alpha's their plates are off to one side and tilted slightly down

Should be fine, i got away with having no front plate at all for over a year. Its now on the offside covering up a massive scratch on the bumper, had no problems.

Just because you "got away with it" doesn't mean it's legit lol.

But yeah you'd have to have a bit of a jobs worth to moan about the angle, as long as its visible, I'm not aware d any minimum heights.

Thats true, I've already been pulled over 4 times in under a year of driving. Never been done for anything but id rather not attract too much attention.

Thats pretty much why i asked, just wanted to be sure I'm legal so i shouldnt get any bother :ninja:

True. The only reason its on now is a friendly ANPR interceptor told me to put it on. I wasnt aware it was illegal, but he persuaded me that it was. Nice bloke actually, just a bit embarassing being put in the back of the car while my one of my old teachers went past though!
