1989 Mk2 Golf GTI 8v - 3 door - Helios Blue - New MOT - Low Miles

Featured Replies

For sale is my 1989 Volkswagen Golf Mk2 GTI 1.8 8v

Important Details:

3 door sunroof model and electric windows

Helios Blue

Genuine original car, with a few subtleextras

108,546miles

12 Months MOT – 27/03/13

Just had £££ spent on servicing and parts

I have owned this car since August 2012 – I bought it because I wanted to restore it to its former glory, and get an MOT on it since being off the road for over a year – I felt like I was saving it!

It attracted me because of the rare colour, the low mileage and the fact it is a solid, straight, rust free body!

In my ownership it has had the following parts and work done (Receipts to prove, and show no expense spared!):

Oil change and sump plug/seal

Anti-Freeze change

Oil, Air and Fuel filters

Spark Plugs

HT Leads

Rotor Arm

Distributor Cap

Front Brake Discs and Pads

Brake Caliper repair slider bolt kit

Rear Brakes cleaned

Handbrake cable

New front seat cables (For tilting forward, Driver and Passenger side)

Rocker Cover Gasket

Outer CV boots

Fan/Power steering belt

Timing Belt Kit inc. Tension kit

Timing Belt full plastic cover

Water Pump

Clutch Kit

New Exhaust from cat back and new rubbers (Standard exhaust)

Total Gearshift bush& rubber rebuild kit (Completely changes the feel of gear changes, it’s like new)

It even had a fresh set of number plates and bulbs all round!

So as you can see, no corners were cut and the car has everything it required...

The car is lowered on a spring and shock kit, I have standard GTI suspension which can be supplied with the car, or fitted instead of the lowering kit.

The engine pulls very well, sounds great and the car just feels and sounds so tight, you really wouldn’t think you are in a mk2.

Over all the car is mechanically great, the bodywork is in lovely conditon considering the age and the interior cleans up very well with no nasty stains, marks or serious damage.

Looking through the wallet of receipts it has been spoilt over the years by all owners.

Bad points (It is 23 years old and they are all pretty minor):

Parcel shelf is missing – I may be able to source one for the sale

Stereo doesn’t work – It is the original Sony tape deck

The clock on the dash just reads 0:00 and doesn’t change

2 small chips in the windscreen – Just passed the MOT with these

Driver’s seat has loose cloth on the base and the bolster is worn

The front jacking point cover on the passenger side it missing – I will try and source one

BBS centre caps missing on wheels

All these pictures were taken this evening, and the car only had a quick wash. I will be fully polishing the car and restoring all the black plasctics etc.
