PinkPoloPrincess 2's New Car

Featured Replies

Hi All

We are new to this site, we being my daughter and myself. So let me introduce us:

I'm Maca (Dad) and am a massive BMW fan having owned a number of mag featured cars, my current car being a E39 M5 that was used as the pristine example on Wheeler Dealers and has also been featured in TBMW. I'm usally found over on the 5forum or the M5 Message board:

This is my car if any one is interested

PM27.jpg

Lot of work done and currently running 425 bhp.

PinkPoloPrincess 2 is my Daughter Ellie, reason we went with that user name is becuase we bought her 1st car from PinkPoloPrincess.

Ellie's still has a few months to go before she's 17 but wanted to car before hand so we could do a few bits and bobs to it before its time for her to take to the road.

The moment she saw this car for sale she had to have, and once we had met with Nat and seen the car we were bringing it home that night with one very happy daughter.

So the car in question (as you prob all know) is a baby pink Mk4 6n 1.4 cl with some great mods already carried out:

Mods already done:

15" Lenso multi spoke alloys

Coil Overs (not sure which until I take the wheels off to look)

Badgeless Front Grill

16V rear bumper

Rear Wiper delete

Clear lights front and side

Golf GTI leather seats

Pics ..... after a full day cleaning the outside (poor thing had been sat for a while)

In terms of future mods we have the following planed:

16V front bumper

16V front fog lights

16V tinted rear lights

Alcantara headlining

All the pink bits on the inside will be done cream and black to match seats

Use the audio that was in it but make a nice boot install with it.

Other stuff to do:

Sort out the little bit of rust on rear arches

Sort out sloppy gear change,

Temp sender,

Cam belt

Oh and we would like to attend some of your car shows this summer, I do alot with the BMW and Ellies keen to bring the Polo out to show it off.

Thoughts and coments welcome>

I take it your daughter likes pink?

Will the M5 be recieving the same treatment?

It's a interesting colour. Never seen a pink 6n before. Good luck with the motor. I'd recommends getting a 6n2 steering wheel they look far better and cost no more than 25£ and some stretched tyres would look awesome aswell.

Ah No ! the M5 is staying blue thank you very much :) but has already had its fair share of bits and bobs and is on going hope to have it at 460bhp by end of year.

My Daughter loves Pink, her bedroom is pretty much the same colour, she's wanted a Pink car since she was about 10. She saw a few other marks for sale all of which I hated but when I saw the Polo I thought why not its a nice looking car and I've always fancied the VW secene my self ........... and boy are the parts cheaper than BMW :)

Gona keep tyres as they are for now, she is going to be learning to drive in it so prob safer to do so. Also not gona have them re-furbed just yet for the same reason.

Mind you I fancy some of those Ronal wheels for it.

Your probs right. Once you get a 16v bumpers she will look very well. Instead of getting 16v rear lights id go for a pair 6n2 rears instead. Ronals are nice but the wheels you have now look awesome one her.

Thanks, I wanted to put 6n2 rear lights but she wanted Jet Black which I didn't want going on a learners / new drivers car its asking to be pulled over, so the 16V 6n tinted ones were / are a compremise. She likes the wheels too and dosen't really want to change them ....... thats just me getting involved :)

Oh and it was used on a "we buy any car" advert

1 minute in.

Tinted rear lights as I'm sure you know are illegal, plus the 6n2 ones would look far better on her but suppose its down to personal preference.

  • Author

I agree the 6n2 ones would look great but its her car, the 16V ones are oem not painted to get the tint. So its the standard tint.

Not true.

Not sure red would look great against the pink either.

i thought tinted lights were illegal in all cases but looks as if I've learnt something new today lol.

i think the red might blend in ok but theres only one way to find out :)

I can imagine alot of people will be disappointed when they open this thread to find you on here  girls usually get scared off pretty quick on here lol

Welcome, nice BM I like the way both cars have a claim to fame regarding being on tv.

Was this the standard colour for the 6n or was I sprayed, I quite like it :).

Also got a set of the tinted rear lights if you want them.

Cheers, about the BM, once she gets her lap top sorted she will give as good as she gets lol.

But to be honest how much time she spends on here I don't know as she will be more worried about driving it and going to shows, it will be down to me Dad to get and keep the car how she wants it .......

Welcome to CP, pretty sure there is an original build thread for this car on here or at least another very similar, check out the gallery using the search function.

its certainly done its rounds regarding being the we buy any car car and I'm pretty sure it was also used in an episode of the bill but there really may be two pink polos :/ god forbid.

plans sound generic enough which is good considering the colour alone will make this stand out lol might be worth rethinking the seats though, as they are basic polo seats retrimmed whereas the 16v seats and certainly the mk3 golf recaros are a much better option

Erm...I like the seats

Lush bimmer though 8-)

MORE OF THE E39 PLEASE!!!!!!

Dream car!!!, so wish i bought a 5 when i had the chance

To be honest, it looks pretty cool in pink, sounds like your getting rid of the tat on it aswell including them god awful rear lights

If you have a thread somewhere for the BM can you link on here I'm not alone with interest.... Pink I'm not sure looking forward to the interior.

Cheers guys,

Got a few bits for it today, tinted rear lights, new side and front indictors and chrome blubs. Hope to get the front bumper soon and will then be looking for a set of fogs and grills so if any one has a pair for sale let me know.

Alcantara for the headlining is on its way so that will be the 1st real project then on to the dash and door trims. As for the seats we were told that they are Mk3 Golf recaros and from my ford days they certainly seem to be recaros as they have all the bucket bits and the lady we bought it from explained how she had to mod the back seats so that they fitted (using the polo frames ?)

Will have a look for the original thread.

As for the Beemer here is the built thread:

And here is when it appeared on Wheeler Dealers:

love it!

I think you'll find they are mk3 golf seats not standard retrimmed ones.

Anyway welcome along, colour is certainly an eye grabber... Have to agree with changing the colour of the interior trim as it makes the pink abit OTT in my view

Well we have now changed the back lights for smoked hella items from a 16V car. Have also picked up a 16V front bumper so just trying to get a paint match now.

But our 1st problem has come up. The other day her mum was driving the car and the drivers door lock got stuck, you could still unlock it from the passenger side (all 4 doors and boot opened from passenger lock). So yesterday I fidlled with the drivers lock / handle and got it working.

Then when we went back to the car later nothing, if you use the key to unlock either drivers or passengers side it only unlocks that door. Like wise if you try doing it from the inside.

As you turn the key in either door you can hear the pump coming on but it stays on far to long, I've removed the pipe from the pump but can't feel any air being blown or sucked when its working .......... is this correct or should I be able to feel the air ? I would guess I should be able to feel it and that this is a dead pump (well the pump bit has failed not the motor).............. any ideas ?

You should definately be able to feel the suction and from memory the pump should'nt run for more than around 5 sec's Sounds like a pump failure :-(

Thanks fella, thats what I needed to know. There is deff nothing at the pump apart from a noise.

Best go find her a pump.

Strip it down before you definately condem it, might be fixable :?

I'm having problems to. My drivers door lock is broke. But I've always had to open each door with my key. I though if you opened 1 door they all open. Locks are rubbish in the 6n. I've noticed a few people complaining about them.

  • Author

Well it turned out it was the pump, bought a replacement on ebay for £31 from a 6n2. Fitted it and we have central locking again.

Happy with that and a cheap fix to.
