Never been to a rolling road so got a technical question if someone can help please.

Cars on rollers when been tested so you don't get actual high pressure air into low pressure intake especially if your cars set up for force induction.

So if your setting up fueling. Is it likely to be more lean once out in the real environment?

Don't they put a big ass fan infront of the car to recreate wind conditions?

If the cars set up for forced induction it would suck all the air in it needs and they do indeed have a big ass fan to cool and recreate road conditions. Set up is as you want it for the road as the whole point of the rollers is to create road conditions

Wondered the same thing myself, as i don't tend to drive with the bonnet open..

But then, wind and turbulence conditions change dramatically during running, wind alone can exceed any road speed one way or another and it's different in every gear even without wind anyway, not to go into humidity/temperatures/atmospheric pressures and oxygen levels from one period of time, or one area/climate, to another.

So with no typical conditions, the huge fans they always place in front of the car at rolling-roads seem more than adequate at doing their job to supply the engine/radiator/intake etc with a constantly fresh stream/supply of air.

Depends where your intake is.

Played around before, bonnet open and closed fan on and off, little to fuck all difference power and fuelling wise. Air temp effects fuelling more in my experience.

Probably better when setting up on rolling road to maybe side on over fueling if anything. Better to be rich than lean?

Front induction is different to having cones in the engine bay. When high pressure zone at bumper feeds air through the pipe. It will come in a lot faster/volume and colder than a normal cone within engine bay.

Will ask if the big ass fan has air conditioning attached to it .

That was a joke about the air con. But yeah as long as there's a fan trying to replicate wind that's fine as the pipes in the grill.
