9N3 GTi 1.8T

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I'm bertrum, some of you might have seen some of my other cars (Ibiza's) at different shows before, Black Mk4 (6L) with subtle Kiwi detailing and my Mk3 Cupra Race Car, again it's Black with not-so-subtle Kiwi details!!

So anyway, bought my 9N3 at the beginning of the year, bit of an impulse buy due to price and current mods - Cup Edition bumpers, FMIC, Coilovers, Remap etc...

Traveled 100miles to check it out, to find the paintwork was nothing like what was described over the phone; stone chipped to buggery, dull paint work and a few light scratches here and there. This didn't phase me though, as the car was cheap, I was just disappointed that I had been fed BS over the phone. One of the guys came out of the office to see how I was getting on looking around it and started harping on about how it was "300+bhp" and "effin' fast" and that it "kept up with a modified S4 2.7T" that they had recently had in.... I just laughed at him. He didn't like it so suggested that I googled "Revo 1.8T" and see what I find. Again, I laughed and calmly lifted the bonnet, stock turbo, stock exhaust, stock intake... lol. Took it for a quick test drive, sure enough it felt like a Revo map, too aggressive, boosting it's arse off whilst not really going anywhere, and power dropped off really quickly. A remap is easily changed though, so this didn't bother me too much. Found a few other little niggles with the car, nothing I can't sort out or would change anyway so did a deal regardless.

Spec as I bought it;

Black Magic 9N3 GTi 96k

Cup Edition Bumpers

Revo remap

FK Konisport Coilovers

Forge FMIC

Forge SplitR valve

Heko wind deflectors

Debadged GTi Front Grill

Newsouth Vent pod and Gauge

Shite single DIN headunit fitted in a Double DIN enclosure

Changes already complete;

Milltek TBE

Shark Performance Remap

Replaced Front Caliper

HIDs & LEDs

Pipeline Mods;

Colour Change

Replace Coilovers- FK Koni's are horrible

Wheels

Front Brakes - 4 Pots, Brembo or AP Racing etc

Rear Brakes - 256mm Conversion

Usual 1.8T tidyup - SAI, N112, N249 delete

Full Stage 2 - Have TIP and intake ready to go on followed by final mapping

Hybrid K03s after Stage 2

Change DV

Change FMIC - Dislike Forge products with a passion, so weighing up other options

Change Grill back to GTi with VW Badge

Change Headunit

I'll get some pictures up next time it's cleaned :)

Cheers,

bertrum

It's awesome, so driveable when you want it to be, but then at others it doesn't hang about. Yeah, give Clive a shout, I highly doubt you will be disapointed!

I didn't mention any figures before, as mine doesn't have full stage 2 mods yet, but it is currently sat at 225bhp/360Nm. More to come as soon as I fit the TIP and intake though.

Think ill have to make the journey over there then. I'm not going stage 2 cuz I don't wanna fork out for the fmic or turbo back. Ill be happy with 200bhp tho. I need to fit my TIP too, had it for ages but it looks like a ball ache so I've been putting it off lol.

Def get some pics up man! And if you fancy getting rid of your front bumper give me shout ;)

You should see a little over 200 with Shark Stg1 :)

TIP fitting can be fiddly without a ramp, but if you haven't got access to one, jack it up as high as you can.

Front bumper isn't going anywhere, one of the main reasons I bought it :p it needs a little repair anyway and will be getting a little smoothing I think at some point!

Thanks, I know what you mean, debadged grill doesn't help and maybe the camera angle too.

I've never been happy that a previous owner had stencilled the forge logo onto the FMIC and it bugs me that it doesn't fit very well with the Cup bumper, so with the weather being nice yesterday, I thought it was about time that I sprayed it black. That way it covers up the stencil and makes it more stealthy.

How it was...

Looks alot better in my opinion. Glad I did it!!

Gave the car a good wash as well, afterwards dropped the GF off at a mates and noticed a bit of 3wheelin whilst I turned round...

Also, got a stock GTi front grill on order so I can get rid of the badgeless (FK) and I think that'll just about finish thr front end off!

I've only wanted a white polo GTI until I seen this! Absolutely beautiful! :D

Suits the Ibiza fr wheels perfectly!
