I did have a really in depth and well thought out for sale advert for this saved on my computer at work but it seems to have disappeared for some reason, so this will have to do instead...

Unfortunately the time has come for me to put my mk2 up for sale. She's done me well and has been the only car I've kept for over a year. She's a 1991 Golf Ryder in tornado red with 142,000 miles on the clock. I've had her since March 2012 and in all that time had one issue.

In december it just died one night in the middle of nowhere, I figured I was just out of fuel (I was running pretty low) but it still wouldn't start up after filling her up. Figured it was the carb, had 2 mechanics out and they still couldn't fix it. Long story short it turned out to be the ignition module and a dodgy earth connection. I ended spending about £400 in parts and labour on the mechanics over the 2 months it was off the road, which conveniently were the 2 months where we had terrible weather so was kept away from the salt for a little while.

She's had 12 previous owners, my brother owned it before me and he sold it to me before he even passed his test so it didn't get driven. I have various photo's of how it's looked over the last year and they can all be found in my 'build thread', i'll post the link further down for you to see.

The car came with virtually no service history, all I got was a load of old receipts for things that have been replaced, and old MOTs. The previous owner to my brother was a Mechanic at a local garage so I trust that all the work he did was to a high standard. He loved this car and I used to see it every day on my way to school and college so have seen it change in many ways throughout the last 5 or 6 years. I still have all of these receipts and have since added to the folder of things that have been replaced.

Other than the issue over christmas I've had no problems with it. She's been driven all over the country to various shows including retro rides gathering in prescott, numerous trips to northampton and to somerset a couple of times. I drive it to and from work daily and around in the evenings/weekends. Get good fuel economy considering it's a carb engine. It's the ideal daily, good fuel, cheap to tax and cheap to insure. Plus it's no mint show car so there's no fear of driving daily as it has various age related marks all around it. There are a few areas of rust starting to occur, only bubbles, around the rear lights, on one of the front arches and also at the bottom of the drivers door, only very small patches and I will photograph these areas tomorrow.

Currently the car is lowered on JOM coilovers on ATS Classics, GTI seats and some all red MHW rear lights. I do however have some white renault megane steelies and standard rear lights that I can put on to bring the price down. In some of the photo's you will see Recaro cosworth seats but these have already been sold unfortunately. The paintwork is amazing and is all original with exception to the front passenger side wing and the bonnet. It's held it's colour so well and gets washed and polished regularly. The car has also had a rear disk conversion from a 16v GTI. The headlights are brand new, brand new gear gaitor, new orange repeaters. I regularly treat the bumpers and all plastic trim with silicone spray to keep them looking fresh, they look brand new. It's got a stainless steel upswept exhaust, 2" with a rolled out tip. It's mated to a powerflow back box and the second silencer has been replaced with a straight through pipe, but a powerflow silencer will be included. The carb has been upgraded from the pierberg to a weber also. Only last week I got some fully road legal pressed plates for her too.

I know I may be asking GTi money for a 1.3 but it only needs a few bits on surface rust removing a few bits of paint to be mint. In my opinion a well looked after 1.3 is in every way as good as a ragged GTI. Just my opinion though. A nice set of BBS' would look spot on, and virtually all the ancillaries on the engine are brand new so you can take comfort in the fact it will be nice and reliable. I've got a brand new spare accelerator cable to go with the car, not that it needs it, just got given it for free so thought why not.

MOT - 9/10/13 (Flew through last MOT with no advisories)

So, to break it down:

Car on ATS with MHW lights - £1500

Car on renault steels with standard lights - £1250

Anything in between we can sort something out...

I have got the wheels advertised for sale on other forums (don't have enough posts to make a thread for them on this forum), but if someone wants the car on them then I will take them down, if they sell before the car then it will obviously only be available on the steelies.

My reason for sale isn't the typical 'I'm moving house' or 'I have 10 children on the way', it's simply that I'm 21 in June

and would like a quicker car as insurance is going to be affordable, so would like to invest in a weekend car. Also I really want a mk1 and have done since I was about 14 so will be looking to get one of those, preferably small block as a daily, so am open to p/x on Mk1 Golf/Jetta/Caddy.
