Ryan's 6n2- Good base for subtle mods

Featured Replies

Hi, I am new to Club Polo and this will be my second car(currently driving 1999 ford fiesta). I have been looking through the forum for the past week to get a few ideas on what to do to my car.

I don't have the keys for the car yet but it is my neighbours car so I was still able to get a few pictures. Still need to sort out paper work (v5, insurance etc.)

The car is completely stock with a few rust spots here and there, and a slight scrape on the front bumper, which I plan to repair.

Hopefully I get the keys tonight and I can give the car a good wash and polish, as it desperately needs it. (78k miles)

Already purchased a set of the BBS GTi alloys, should be here tomorrow.

This will be a summer project, will start after exams in may. I'd like to keep cost to a minimum, being on a student budget. :/

Here are my plans for the car so far:

Gti alloys (got)

Gti grill

Gti front splitter

Coilovers (Probably JOM)

Xenon bulbs (Ice white)

LED side lights and plate lights

Fresh plates (once I get private plate registered)

Few interior mods- upgrade speakers (already has upgraded head unit), Black rear view mirror.

Here's a few pictures, let me know what you think.

Sorry for all the little black dots on the picture, only used my iPhone and the lens is dirty. Will post more pictures with a better camera once it's clean and the alloys are on.

Cheers,

Ryan

Wheels came today, look good, could do with a refurb but are ok for just now. Need to get a new set of centre caps for them though.

Got the keys for the car today. The car has been not been driven in a few months so there is a few problems:

Seized brakes (rear passenger side)

Flat battery as expected ( had to jump start)

driver side window wont open (needs new switch I think)

Weird noise coming from the engine ( like air coming out of a tyre)

Needs a good service and some TLC. Got the car for free so can't complain lol

Not bad for a free car!

nice wheels also ;)

good start!

engine noise is most probably the brake servo pipe, its a vaccuum pipe, mine split and can hear it blowing, about £20 from vw mate, easy to fit

Not a bad base car mate. Is it an 8v or 16v?

It's only an 8v I'm afraid :|

Not really got any time to work on the car at the moment but I'll be finished for summer in a couple of weeks.

I'll get some more pics up once i make some progress.

Finally got the car on the road today. Needs new discs and pads and front springs.

The drivers side electric window goes down fine but gets stuck on the way up and you need to force it up to get it shut.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Cheers
