1.0 POLOW 6N2 smoothness!

Featured Replies

Hi, many of you probably won't have seen me around, i mainly float around the for sale section looking for bits for the little polo.

on the 26th march 2012 my parents brought me a 1.0 6n2 for my 17th birthday. on the 27th of march i pissed them off. ripped it apart and got to work. The target of my build was to do as much of it as possible myself and with the exception of paint, i have achieved this. a little over 13 months on and i'm finally putting this thread together. It's been a journey full of up's and downs but it continues to put a smile on my face when i walk past it.

i estimate that including buying the car it has cost me no more than £1500-1700 which when you consider the spec is very good.

the day after! :L coilovers and ronals fitted! :)

then the weekend after i began to smooth the lot. a few tubs of filler after ad a sprayed bumper in porsche sport classic grey this is what she was looking like. bit of tatty primer and stuff on the car from various bits that needed doing! :)

then i began to get pretty skint. the project slowed right down and i didn't touch it at all for a few months other than touching up bits of filler :(

a few months later i began to get stuck in in the summer months and managed to have all the body work there! :) then i got bored of the ronals and began to look at some alternative wheels that no one else wuld have... the outcome was a set of £20 wheels just a few miles from where i lived. with a quick refurb, custom adaptors, some fresh stretched rubber and the whole car filler primered, this is the position the car sat in a few months ago.

with the exception of paint obviously, i was now happy with the exterior and began work on the interior. a drift style wheel, beige dash parts and new ice was added a well as gti doorcards and a red suede bootbuild and black suede pillars and roof. a good bit of dealing also landed me a full set of 200sx s14 leather for £30 and although i am awaiting the front's the rears are in and looking sweet and comfy as hell!! wrapped a few bits in carbon that were a bit tatty.

This is as far as i am at the mo but as i write this i am just 3 hours away from being picked up by my mate to go and look at her in the final stages of the overhaul. She's being sprayed in movage beige as i type and i cannot wait to go and look at my baby 99% finished! everythign that is required to be complete is in the post and my driving test is tomorrow. fingers crossed i can get her on the road asap and just enjoy 13 months of hard work.

feel free to contribute constructive criticism. hell, even call it shit if you want. All i know is that regardless of anyone's opinion i am chuffed to bits with myself for the amount of work i have done by myself (even made my own arch roller at work). i have no experience with cars whatsoever so all in all i hope to god it all comes out okay.

Thanks for having a read and i'll grab some pictures later on today! :)

Josh

Shogun options dude. I have them readily available at a stupidly cheap price anyway, so when money permits they'll be on. The ideas not scrapped, just on hold

gunna keep my eye on this looks pucker so far pal !

yesterday wasn't as good as i hoped, the sprayed had made a mistake on the left rear quarter and had to rub down prime and respray it again so it won't be until thursday that she's done. I'm in no rush though and i'm just glad he's taking the time to get it done right first time :) here's a quick pic of the paint going on.

Looks good man,

Different colour!!

Only thing I don't like it the pulled front arches, need the bumper to pull out abit and carry the pull all the way round or something,

x2

Re-do the front arches and would look sweet

  • Author

Was thinking about it, but I really don't wanna piss around with arches just after its been painted :/ will probably leave it a few months before I touch anything bodywork-wise :) Mondays jo is to get all the wheels done and chase up the front s14 seats :) installed all the speakers and amp yesterday and she sounds sweet! :)

Cheers for the input guys

Josh

what are the back seats out off they look cool i wouldnt mind some

The back sits so perfect i like the back arches, if i was you id invest in some new headlights to clean the front up more ! :)

  • Author

S14 200sx seats :) they are a perfect fit, just need to get to work on securing them :) and in all honesty, I'm just gunna get some brighter bulbs for now. Still got a few bits I want, lights being one of them, but I'm finding it near on impossible to get insured :(

Nice to see it come together

Lush build man, and thats a bargain for those wheels they really look good in red, plus insurance is a bi*ch to pay my 1.0 was £1800 with my parents!

You the guy PM'd my missus about her Mitsubishi wheels? What width adaptors did you go for? Silver wheels would go with the body colour a lot better imo. The body colour is on point though

  • Author

Yeah I love the red :) got all the ice wired in today :) and possibly bud.. On RMS forum?

  • Author

I went for 25's in the end mate :)
