Polo 9N3 outside air temp sensor

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I scanned my car for error codes with vag-com and was getting error for the outside air temperature sensor. I always thought that my car didn't have one of these as i have no display of outside temperature on the dash. Anyway, i located the sensor and found one of the wires had snapped. I have now repaired the wire and the error has cleared in vag-com. Vag-com also shows the correct temperature in vag-scope.

My question is is this sensor used for anything? I have had the car nearly a year now and have notice no problems with air con or engine temps while is hasn't been working. By the way I'm talking about the temperature sensor located behind the grill on the passengers side.

Any answers will be appreciated

Thanks

Oliver :-)

The sensor is used for the aircon, if the outside temp is to low it's supposed to stop the aircon kicking in.

Hi,

thanks for the reply. So if i have the aircon on and its cold outside its meant to turn the air con off?

thanks

If the air temp is below 4c (on my Ibiza) the Aircon is supposed to switch off or not come on, I don't see it being any different on the polo as it uses a similar setup

Ambient temperature sensor -G17-

Function: temperature sensor controls temperature flap and fresh air blower, depending on temperature.

Emergency operation during failure:fresh air intake duct temperature sensor -G89- takes over the function. If both sensors are defective, operation continues with an assumed value of +10° C. Air recirculation is not possible. The control and display unit for Climatronic air conditioning system -E87- displays “--”.

Hi, where can I find the sensors to check. My air con only works every now and then. Temp gauge is also suspect as it ,again only works occasionally.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hello greetings from Brazil, I have a 9n3, but it does not have this sensor (G17), would you have any guide or diagram to install it?

I'm using google translator!
