first car 1.9 SDI

Featured Replies

Hi, been on the forum a while but just browsed really looking at other peoples cars.

Any way i have been looking for a car for few months now with the intention of buying a 1.0 crash damaged 6n2. however my dad noticed a 1.9 SDI on autotrader and hence on Friday i got my first car.

The car had no Tax or Test but not too bothered as my dad runs his own garage and i enjoy getting my hands dirty so wasn't too bothered about what it needed.

put it through its test on Friday and it failed so got a few things to do,

Both front headlights

O/S front spring

Both rear number plate lights

Battery insecure

Rear brakes are poor.

it also needs

Cam Belt kit

Service

valet

drivers window switch

and some trim pieces to tidy it up.

I'm going to get it legal before i worry about the 2nd list and the mods.

But i also start a job at VW on tuesday so quite happy.

will get some pics up tomorrow.

Eventually some progress, I did all sorts of bits between passing my test in September and November however everything ended up getting put back to standard lol.

The end of November things started to get interesting, Basically i f#?ked my suspension up which resulted in me running some serious reverse rake for 3 weeks. although i did spray my steels BMW Sparkling Pepper Grey although once sprayed was a bit dark.

Santa brought me a set off these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sport-Suspension-lowering-kit-Springs-Shock-Absorber-VW-Polo-MK5-6N2-6-bearings-/251401457606?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3APolo%7CPlat_Gen%3A6N2&hash=item3a88b1cfc6 which meant i could have my ride comfort back. this means my snow tires had to come off as they fouled on the front shockers.

boxing day i went and picked these up http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BBS-RZ-Alloy-Wheels-4x100-Rare-style-suit-VW-golf-lupo-polo-rover-mazda-/261359329511?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=Y6MqHP8gpBguFX2b1jWpQ2b4twU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=ncin need of a refurb but they will do for now until the new year. I am also buying new tires as i currently have 2 different sizes on and 4 different makes which i don't like.

Also purchased today was the following - just waiting to be delivered.

Team Heko wind deflectors

GTI Splitter

Philips extreme vision headlight bulbs

LED sidelight bulbs

LED No. Plate bulbs

Silver front indicator bulbs

To do

Fit above parts when they arrive

Refurb Alloys

Decide tire size and purchase

buy longer wheel bolts as they are a little short

purchase glass wiper blank

find GTI fogs, Grills and switch - CHEAP lol.

lower back slightly more

Remove cat

Will get some pics tomorrow when i get my splitter on. Thanks for looking.

Got a few plans i want to do but not sure how and when,

drop it another 20mm

buy a headunit - thinking pioneer app radio as i can get a new one for £150

The biggest plan of all is to do a 1.9tdi pd130, 6spd conversion, now i know its not exactly gonna be easy but i am sure we will manage.

The reason i say we is because my mate and I are currently working on installing the same engine into his cdti Corsa C.

But before i can do mine i need to finish my other project first,
