In this instance I'm looking for splash shields for my brake disks. I suspect something as simple would be applied to many models of the same year. I'm not up to speed on the different badge versions of this car. Would those models be reliable sources for parts?

I've been around Car Parts 4 Less and Euro Car Parts, but they don't have them. (is it just me, or are those two sites the same?)

only Polo and Derby's have this type of spash plate due to the unique front suspension leg

Pretty sure these are obsolete now from vw

Both sides are listed on the VW Heritage site as being available from Germany??

Not sure I bought some from vw about 3 years ago (still got them in the package) and they told me they only had a couple left then

I've been driving with both splash plates missing for nine years, I don't know if it's made an effect.

I've run a few cars without them and none have exploded yet.

The ones on my B2 passat look very similar, but left and right sides are switched as the struts are the opposite way around (steering arm points forwards, calipers are at the back)

Seems like they are kinda pointless then. One of mine was intermittently rubbing the back of the disc for a while

probably because some bean bent it.

I've always thought the purpose was to stop stones getting trapped. I tend to run without them fitted on most of my cars, and have had a stone stuck between my disc and pad in Serbia after running over loose tarmac, and very recently in the beemer. couple of minutes driving and they tend to fall out, but dont half sound like somethings very wrong when your driving
