My first blow out

Featured Replies

I think I've just had the worst evening which resulted in a blow out.

More of a grumble / release stress post.

All within the space of about half an hour:

*I smashed my knee on the draws at work

*I finished work, find a slightly flat tyre.

*I proceed to pump it up.

*Suddenly the pump stops working.

*A bird then shits on my shoulder seconds later.

I* leave work, Some idiot in a KA then pulls out on me and I almost went into him.

*After picking my daughter up, while going to get another pump from my mums...

POP my tyre goes, I'm stuck on a road with speed bumps.

*I then grind over 3 bumps to my aunties house, I walk to my mums drop my little girl off and change the wheel in the poring rain, then ruin my work shoes..

Pretty shitty evening.... and pisssssed off.

Worse thing is , I brought the alloys with new tyres 2 days ago......

I'm just thankful my tyre went at low speed.

Anyone else ever had everything go wrong all of a sudden and literally be shit on?

Sounds like one of those days where everything you touch falls apart.

In which case, be bloody careful when you go for a slash.

And i like to shit on people shoulders....

lol that did make me laugh.

whats worse, I tested another tyre late last night. That also was leaking air so I dropped it round a family members house and on the way back some guy in a brand ford mondeo tried to insurance job me at a roundabout which was clear ... twice... then just sped off

Seriously.. last night and afternoon were a bloody joke!

You know what they say, when it rains it pours!

It seems the polo wants my attention again, handbrake cable snapped last night which adds to the 10 other jobs that have shown their face in the last week.

What's that got to do with your dad?

Ha never noticed that! well he was the one who said don't worry it'll be fixed before you start driving it

I did mean day though

Had a shitter of a day myself, all fine was untill i went to collect my daughter from school.

First my clutch pedal disapeared again, assumed it was the cable snapping again but no,the pedal box shat itself

managed to get home via sainsburys where i bumped into my sister who needed to borrow some money, now I'm skint.

at home i cooked a tuna pasta bake i bought from sainsburys, while eating i found that one of the pasta shells secretly contained boiling hot sauce

not only burnt my mouth out but this molten sauce ran down my lip and chin, now how a huge red burn mark down my face so look like a idiot.

not happy days

'my 1st blow job'

oh wait what?

I remember when I had my first blow out.

Wait what

if the tyre was flat and you were driving on it for a prolonged period, I'm not surprised it burst. driving to someones house to get a pump isnt going to help the damage sustained in that time.

if youve ever taken a tyre off thats been run flat for even a few miles youll find loads of rubber inside from where the rim has been running against the tyres and the tyre cant really be used again.

to then go and pick your child up is madness, in an unsuitable car.

did you not have a jack and a spare?

it is shit that you just bought the wheels, but I'm really not surprised it went to be fair. sucks - I've had plenty of flats and ruined near new tyres. pita - i just stockpile tyres now!

Mine was on the M25, strange junction area where i had an adjoining motorway on my left, so nowhere to go.

The mid '90s final shape Ford Escort had started weaving about a little, i thought my wishbone had gone or something but it was a brand new car at the time so i was a bit confused.. It got worse and i found myself correcting the hell out of the steering, it was all over the shop. But all three lanes were dense high-speed traffic and it took me long enough to get to the middle lane.

Due to the hump over the wheel arch and skinny tyres on this oddly lethargic 1.6 16v Zetec base model, i couldn't see the tyre but i knew that's what it was when suddenly things got lumpy and my rear view mirror was no longer full of cars but smoke and thousands of lumps of flying rubber..

I managed to get the thing stopped in a triangular hatched section between merging lanes. Tyre change to make any F1 team proud, and i was off again.

I didn't bang my knee on a cabinet at work the same day though, that's just too bad man.

I didn't think too much of the tyre as it wasn't overly bad, I do tend to look at my tyres before I get in the car and thought it could do with a quick blast.

I was lucky as after getting to my child-minder from work its only 1.8 miles between there and my mums and the tyre went at low speed just around the corner from my aunties house, 3 bumps and round the bend (literally)

So parked at my aunties and 2 min walk to my mums house so I didn't have to worry about her + gets her buggy out of the boot with all her shit, then got the spare on.

Although not ideal at all..

Karma?

I've had two.

The first one when I was much younger was a remould which just fell apart whilst driving. I was doing 60+ down a bumpy single track back lane with a ditch each side. That was exciting, and taught me there and then that tyres are worth spending money on.

The second one was on the M5, I was in the middle lane in the Transit when something put an 8mm hole in my back right. Luckily the wagon driver I was passing realised something was wrong and backed off so I could get off the road. I stuck it on the hard shoulder, took one look at the tyre, decided it was fooked and limped down the shoulder a mile to the next junction, got somewhere safe and changed it.
