Due to increased mileage I’m reluctantly putting my B5 up for sale as I need something with a bit more mpg.

She’s been a joy to own since January 2013 and I’ll be sad to see her go. I was reluctant to go for the V6 for fuel reasons but it drives so nicely compared to a 1.9 and isn't really too bad on fuel. When i bought it i was doing a lot less miles so could justify the decreased mpg.

Engine

‘AFB’ engine code, 2.5 V6 TDI (150bhp) with 6 speed manual.

Cambelt done at 131,000 with full stamped history, very recently serviced in my ownership. Makes a great sound for a diesel being a V6 and it pulls very smoothly and is surprisingly nippy with the 6 speed manual box. As expected it’s a bit thirstier than a 1.9 variant….on a potter round town you can expect 35mpg and on a run around 45mpg. Best I’ve seen is real world 52mpg on a steady run to Manchester/Liverpool and back home again driving like an absolute granny.

Paint/bodywork

Finished in LZ3L factory Hibiscus pearl red, all original paint other than the front bumper which looks to have been painted at some point. As expected from a car 14 years old there are a few age related marks and dings, most noticeably a couple in the bonnet and a crease where it looks as though the bonnet was shut onto a tool of some sort. No rust to report which is always nice to hear.

Polishes up nicely and looks amazing when the sun is out.

Front arches have been rolled and sealed by Tim at True Paintworks.

Clear side repeaters fitted along with aero style wipers, debadged at the rear, Sline badge fitted to the grill.

B pillars have been carbon skinned by myself in 195gsm 2/2 weave.

Wheels/suspension

Lowered on tuning art coilovers…as you can see it sits very low so the ride does suffer a little due to 35 profile rubber but the coilovers can be easily adjusted to a more sensible ride height for increased comfort. All collars adjust freely and there is still around 40mm left on the front coilovers but the turrets will need to be cut to allow control arm clearance if you want to get the front lower!

N/S tie rod has been replaced and tracking done recently with an alignment print out by A-line in Dudley.

Running on genuine BBS RC306’s in 18x8.5, et 32 with 2x tracmax 215/35/18’s – 6mm tread, 1x nankang ns2 215/35/18 – 4mm tread and 1x toyo t1r 215/35/18 – 3.5mm tread.

Wheels are finished in sparkle silver powdercoat with new genuine BBS carbon badges and the correct new BBS metal spigot rings (neither of these parts were cheap)

Few marks here and there and unfortunately a couple of bits of powdercoat have chipped off on one wheel but that aside they look amazing and fit perfectly on the car without spacers giving a really class OEM look.

Interior

Standard cloth interior with all the SE refinements and wood trim which i love but all down to personal preference, Kenwood CD player fitted.

As with all cars there a few bad bits to note:-

Temperature gauge isn’t reading since I replaced the coolant temp sensor with a new one, this was working fine before I changed it and now isn’t reading from either the old sensor or the new one…potential knock or break in one of the wires i suspect.

I’ve not had a chance to look into it and these run a twin fan setup (one being constant) so I’ve no worries about it overheating as it’s been like this for a few months.

Price wise I’m looking for £1600ono.

I think this is very fair with the modifications listed as the value of these A4's have risen slowly over the last 12 months and all seem to have a much higher mileage.

Good cars mate, my dads got an a6, same colour/spec/engine, gets low to mid 30's towing a caravan too - like you say - no as bad on fuel as what you'd expect :)
