The p6 was really clean even had all the stickers under the bonnet. Some old man had it and had to give up driving.

I've had two, the first one was a GT, and when I went round it with a hammer, it was like a teabag, so I sold it to a mate and he broke it (I folded the floor in half with my bare hands it was that weakened), the other was a B-reg Coupe. I never investigated it's rust, but I took a rear quarter card off, had a loo, pretended I'd never seen anything and put it back quick

I'm repainting it with grey rattles this week, it shouldnt rust again for a good while

Some decent underbody paint will follow too

Took it for its MOT and was expecting the worst

It failed, but on wiper blades, exhaust leak and rear seat not securing in upright position (it does)

Taking back on monday for a partial retest and it'll pass

Changed wiper blades and coated all the exhaust joins in exhaust putty

Its been painted with grey poundland primer for now, I'm waiting on some grey rattle paint to arrive, but can't fault the £15 poundland job at all

I also managed to snap a rear coil spring on my breadvan whilst obtaining the wiper blades, thought I'd hit a kerb, got home and noticed my shocks were floating lol.

Well done mate thats not a bad fail by any means especially after seeing the earlier photos

Youv'e done some good work on that to get it to MOT stage. Its great that you have kept it on the road, problem with most gts and g40's is that they are not undersealed and arches cleaned out on a regualr basis. Even with my 6n i spend more time underneath oiling it etc than polishing the body.

It should pass tomorrow, the exhaust is still a concern as the small leaks are all just plugged with putty, but its on there pretty thick so should get me through the test

One thing I have found is the handling is terrible. I was driving to work today and thought I was going to fall out of my door as I went round the corner

Yeah they're notoriously bad, stone age suspension setup and weak front end are the main contributers.

Breadvan isnt so bad as its lowered on stiff springs but have to slow right down in the GT at the minute

Temporary lows until I get a h&r/AP (undecided) lowering kit

Just -40mm on the rear, front already seems lower than standard

Dont go for one of those kits, I have one on my breadvan and its the most awful thing ever

I drove over a speed bump then round a corner and snapped a coil spring after 6 months of using them

Ride is terrible too, though for £120 you cant complain (cheaper on the ta technix website!)

Personally I'm lingering on the idea of this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-POLO-...=item2328f450d2 but theres very little in the way or reviews etc about it.

Or the top of the range h&r kit but £350 isnt too pleasing on the wallet!

My next thing will be lowering it properly and getting some tyres on my other 2 g60s, then I reckon I want some alleycats

I couldn't wait to lower mine, was getting tired of the unpredictable handling and falling out my seat.

Problem after problem with this car!

Water pump went today, but not in the usual way, the casing cracked and pished water all over the pavement once I got home from work

Spent the afternoon fitting a spare one, bit fiddly due to lack of space

Nightmare!!

Lambda sensor broke

Fuel pump broke

Exhaust has fallen off multiple times

Head gasket has blown within the past week so need to change that

Great fun...

The joys of older cars. Low mileage cars can be problematic.

Head gasket, timing belt, ICV and crankcase breather changed, running much better now.

Hopefully roller painting matt black with some landrover paint tomorrow as this poundland stuff isn't upto the scottish winters...

Just needs flatting and another coat and it'll look tits

What size are your RA's? They look massive on the car...
