hope some one can help me...just changed the batterys on my polo 6n2 gti keyfob and now it does not want to open or lock the doors...have I done something wrong or something I have not done...what way do the batterys go in the fob....etc etc...plz help as I am locked out of my car in the middle of nowhere....

yes the light is flashing and I only have a boot lock...but it wont turn the alarm off....is there a way of reprogramming the alarm

If you went in through the boot (I know you said the alarm would go off), could you deactivate the alarm by starting it or is it linked into the immobiliser?

the alarm did not go off and the car started....just have to get in and out via the boot now...o well...I was just starting to like modern cars....I miss my mk 1

sorry forgot to say its a standard alarm

I would try disconnecting the battery for 5-10 mins then see how you get on. I'm think (but not 100% sure) these work with a code system so when you press the key it sends say code 200 to the car and the ECU matches to 200 then the next time 201. Replacing the battery in it may have reset it.

To do it manually you need 2 keys and a door lock, sounds like your only option is through vcds.

Where are you located.

Can you not just press the unlock button on the door when your inside? If you get the doors open then you can re'sync the fob fairly easily. Just have to take the handle off and use a screw driver.

Why can't you just unlock the door with the key manually? Usually if you do this after a period the alarm if fitted will sound. However if you turn the ignition on without about 15 seconds (I think) the alarm will not sound.

Apologies - I see it - the quote text messed up in my browser :-)

Given the red light is flashing on the fob, that shows the battery is fitted OK. Maybe is just needs to be re synced with the CCM, however usually that involves the ignition being turned on with one key and manually locking the card with another, without door locks that won't work.

As has been said VCDS or going to a dealer are likely to be your options now.

Not sure why changing the battery in the fob would make this happen, but I do wonder if the fobs generate an increasing 'serial' number in the transmissions that the CCM module expects to be within a certain range band, and when you changed the battery the fob started the sequence again, or lost it's place.

I note in the manual it states that if the unlock button is pressed many many times when the fob is out of range of the car then it will beed to be re-synced with the CCM module.

This implies there *is* a sequence number that the two expect to match, within a threshold.

Yes, if you take the battery out or let it run low for more then 10 minutes it will generate a random sequence so the ccm needs to learn it again.

You can do it with one key, as above just take the handle off and use a flat head driver in the groove. Then put the key with the fob in the ignition open the window and turn the driver to lock then press the lock button on the fob. The position of the key doesn't matter as long as the ignition is on and there is something turning the lock sensor.
