Clutch biting point

Try and remain at roughly 15000 rpm

to follow that i will have valve bounced my engine to death before i reached the required rpm to release the clutch.

even at my motors max rpm, my paddle clutch would put me into the nearest object rather uncontrolably

6,000 rpm then just release the clutch as quick as you can?

Have I been doing it wrong?

After months of driving a diesel and nothing else, then going back to a petrol, I probably should have read that page. It took me three days to remember not to try and pull away with the engine idling.

I didn't think that was too bad, if you look at it from an idiots clueless about cars point of view.

Merely just a brief explanation of how to find or get used to the biting point.

I think stuff like this seems worse to us as we are car people, I work in the trade and have seen all sorts, the stupidity of the average joe is beyond belief and sometimes they have to be spoken to like children lol.

I thought "the width of £1 coin" was also great.

we find it patronising and inaccurate, however a simple explanation can make a massive difference to a new drivers clutch control.

Every time a friend of mine has been learning to drive, I have tried to explain how the controls work in very basic terms. They always find it makes a big difference, even if my explanation isn't 100% accurate or complete.

When my lady friend bought her motor, we had to completely rebuild the rear brakes. She told me how much of a difference it made, understanding what happened when she pressed the brake pedal.

It doesn't need to be perfectly accurate as long as it gives new drivers a rough idea of how it works.

15000rpm made me lol though haha!

So the needle on my rev counter has to go round nearly twice before i try to pull away?

How to drive a 1043cc

I was reading something regarding diesel remaps the other day, more than one person were talking about throttle response. And how they alter the throttle butterfly on the different maps (revo, DMs) etc, and that's what effects it.

I assume they're not aware a diesel doesn't have a throttle butterfly. Apart from the shut off flap thingy.

Read something else too which really angered me cause it was completely wrong advise yet everyone was like oh cheers mate and buying some absolute shit because it was on the net

Are you seriously telling me that you guys can't tell the difference between 15000 and 1500?? Nowhere in that article is there a mention of 15000 rpm? Perhaps it isn't so much duff advice that is being written, but more that we are all illiterate and can not comprehend what we are reading. :p

Although I will agree with some of the information and instructions given being very skeptical.

Yeah, people get mugged off by garages and stuff so often. Because people genuinely have no idea, so we're lucky in that sense.

Il find a lot of things "easy" or jus logical on cars, and get annoyed that other people have no idea as I find it second nature, but have to take a step back and think that everyone's different. They probably know a lot about something I'm totally clueless on. And may find a similar kind of thing patronising.
