Neighbour just text me saying I have some packages, rainbow IQ speakers and side repeaters it seems.

iPod lead came today but it didnt activate the aux mode on the headunit, need to measure it has 300kohm resitance between the L & R audio inputs to activate the aux mode within the headunit menu, all good fun.

Yay excited.

Designed to fit as OEM do, may amp them in future, will see how they perform.

Also received a box of air (can anyone guess where from?)

you can get some M3 CSL reps that will fit and look really good. Plus you are looking at £1000's for original CSL wheels..

Not keen on replica wheels tbh, any experience iv had of them you can tell they're really heavy just driving the car.

I know someone with a CSL actually but not sure he'd want to part with his wheels :p

Standard component setup.. paper cones, tiny magnets and other poor quality speaker related facts (i am so good with audio honest)

So I ripped apart the door card and replaced the tweeters I buyed!

And da woofer, its bare heavier so must b sik

Fitted them back in, not listened to anything whilst driving along, but sound seems better throughout the range, bit more bass too, might amp them I dunno, rears to upgrade first.

Also totally changed my side repeaters...

Tis jokes in the rain, put your foot down going round a bend or off an island and its fine then as it comes on boost likes to test its DSC out lol.

New lead arrived, has correct resistance between L & R channels now so activates the Aux mode in the head unit menu..dropped into place, need to notch a couple of bits of interior trim to clear the cable, will put pics up later.

Other than that, rear speakers and adapters on their way as we speak :)

Might get the front bumper painted as its got loads of stone chips, and potentially some crystal clear fogs to match the headlights

Rear speakers now installed, original ones were just woofers but these are coax or whatever so you get more musics coming from the back.

Will sound deaden door cards tomorrow.

On for 700 miles to a tank of fuel, with mixed driving so that's pretty good. Will work out actual MPG when I fill up, but it's looking the like trip computer says its doing worse than it is :)

Hey hey, not really been up to much.

Put some deadening on, didn't really take pics but during:

Trouble is the front and rear speakers don't really push against anything hard so bass is lost lots, might look into it, audio isn't bad though, might amp speakers/get a small sub, didn't want to be adding wiring though.

Going to do a few chassis tweaks I think, want some slight lows and to improve a few things, handling is good but I'd like to improve steering feel but try and slightly improve the ride in primary motion, need to do some maths + logical guesswork and measure spring aid clearances etc but may do something soonish.

To baseline the car, thought I'd do a setup on it geometry wise as its never quite felt right, got pretty lucky as only 1 track rod was seized up, other side and rear cambolts came free easily so wasn't too bad.

Forgot to print off the after results but it has transformed the car, steering through centre is a lot less "lost" and more responsive, feels really nice in the bends and ride even seems to have improved. Had a long ass day doing that as did a setup on mine, and lowered a new 3 series and set that up too usual work at 6 and got away from the other unit at 11pm, niceee.

Did it at kerb with a full tank of fuel, front cambers were really balanced, set rear to -1.5 which I'm going to back off slightly when I re do it, not really necessary, can't remember toe settings.

Strut didn't want to come out the knuckle so ended up taking the whole corner off this - long

Have considered buying a set of wheels, but I got liking BBS CH's but with tyres was gonna be around £1700, so fuck that. Not sure whether to just refurb MV2s or buy something else and use MV2's as winters.

So gonna do a bit of research into suspensions over the next few weeks and see how that goes, hopefully drop the front 20-30mm and the rear around 10.

Have had a small knock on this for a couple of weeks which has proven difficult to find, even got other people to drive it who said they couldn't hear it so did think I was going mad.

Anyway have discovered the upper rose joint in the knuckle where it connects to the upper arm has a slight amount of play - so they'll be getting replaced, just need to machine some tools up to make into a puller to change them in situ as I am not removing the entire rear knuckle assembly when it's accessible on the car.

Have also replaced rear top mounts and rear ARB bushes and drop links for good measure.

Suspension wise I was looking at a set of frequency sensitive dampers, which basically can remain fairly firm at lower velocity damper speeds, like in steering or cornering. But a high velocity impact like a pot hole they switch to another valve which softens them off so should remain comfortable - but at around £700 a set I'm not sure I can justify it.

So I think I'm going to go for some eibach springs once iv found out the rates, need to measure spring aid gaps and alter to suit as they lower slightly. Will replace dampers with OEM, hopefully the stiffer springs coupled with the OEM levels of critical damping will mean "technically" it's slightly under damped for the spring rate, however this may mean its slightly more compliant over rougher roads, then as there's slightly less damper control over the spring a higher velocity input will allow the damper to reach a higher damping force sooner so should still be firm enough, all in theory but IMO coupled with lowering slightly it should increase the handling and hopefully make the ride slightly better.

Wheels wise - i am a bit stuck.

I have the 18" MV2's on the car, which need a refurb for me to be happy with them.

Id also put new tyres on them once refurbed.

I also want a set of winter wheels & tyres, work is a good 22 miles away and due to working shifts public transport wouldn't be an option, besides winter tyres can be ran in the dry & slightly warmer than recommended, they just fall apart a lot easier.

Kind of have a few options, such as.

Refurb MV2's + new tyres = ~£600

Then buy a set of winter wheels and tyres.

Buy a new set of wheels & tyres (ones I have seen) - £1000

Fit winter tyres to MV2's

Buy a new set - £1000

Swap + cash my MV2's for a mates 17" SE wheels (cheaper tyres, bit narrower better for winter) put winters on them.

Not sure what to do - I'd like new wheels, but the mv2's also look good when they're fresh, I want winters, not sure if 18's for winter would be a bit silly?

Would probably get silver 18x8 & 18x9.

Offsets should give around another 14mm poke at the rear and 11 at the front, rears are too tucked anyway but have a big arch lip on mine so need to be careful.

Thoughts? Baring in mind I wasn't really planning on spending much on this it's soon gotten out of hand.

Personally I would stick the winters on the MV's I think 17's would look a bit weird on the car even if they are only winters. Granted the tyres are a bit cheaper though.

If its any re-assurance, my turbo has basically given up after 160k non motorway miles if you get me - first turbo.

Well it might not be the turbo but the boost isnt turning into performance - just whooshing noise and plenty of black smoke if booted.

Enjoy the ride but watch the spending - as the car will ask for some of that cash naturally eventually!

Hope your finding it a superior car as i have done.
