Another engine swap insurance question

Featured Replies

Right basically iiv got a 95 6n polo with the standard 1.4 8v which Iv done alot of body work to and it's my pride and joy so I plan of dropping a 16v lump into it.

I would like abit of info on how to go about the paper work side of things. From what it read I can apply to change my log book providing I get a garage to sign the conversion off (no worries I work in the trade) would I be correct in thinking this as I'm fitting an engine that was fitted to the same model.

My next question being could I simply insure the car as a 16v polo? I know that when I re insure the car it may not come up on the system as a 16v but I'm more than happy to point this out to the insurance company.

Any advice would be appreciated

Many thanks guys and girls

There is a thread in here on engine swaps and the paperwork involved - Its pinned to the top of this section

Nope, it will show as a engine conversion which from what I've seen will actually cost more to insure than a factory fitted 16v

The car needs to be insured at the 8v with the 16v engine listed as a modification.
