the nearside wheel is catching on the brake pads,

yes, I know it is the brakes as have had everything else checked out and when I brake the noise stops, until I let the brakes back out.

the noise is annoying as it makes a synchronized clunking noise where it catches.

have had the wheel off to look at it and the brake pad has sanded itself down slowly as too has the wheel seem.

any ideas or suggestions of how to stop this (without spacers)

If the pads are 'sanding down', is it due to the surface of the disc being rough? If this is the case, new discs and pads are required.

What is the clunking noise synchronising with?

Suggest that you take the pads out and check that the calliper can be moved on its mountings - It is designed to slide, this is what allows both of the pads to contact the disc and compensate for pad wear.

Let us know if this is NOT the problem.

it's all sorted now,

the pad has grinded down the inside of the wheel so it's all sorted...

probably not the best thing, but it's not making the noise anymore

Unless you mean like maybe the locating end part which could slightly protrude out of the caliper? :s

Its cool now though my wheels has a huge gauge out of it so has a major weak part but dont make noise no more.

Well as you couldn't read English and gave a load of fixes that didn't help at all as the pad was in contact with the wheel not the disc like it should. If the pad was sanding down due to the disc surfaces being broken up and rusted away you would feel that and hear that when applying the brakes and when driving. Please don't get clever.

Also I would deem it almost impossible if not impossible for lads to rub on the wheels

No that was aimed at the guy right at the top of the thread.the the original guy with the fault a long time ago now That thinks its okay to have a pad grind his wheel down so there will be a weak spot around the wheel. I hope he doesn't hit a pot hole and the wheels doesn't collapse

I would also recommend changing your wheels now and sort the original problem out
