Project rusty fox

Featured Replies

picked up this little project for the sum of £150 2 weeks ago, its a bit of a shed and for £150 saving it from the scrap is worth while, was taxed and tested.... for 3 more whole days, so went and picked it up and drove it 100 miles home and it never missed a beat which was lot more that I was expecting

both front wings will be getting replaced as will both sills which is all ordered and due to arrive on Tuesday

sorry for the bad pictures,

started by removing the interior which was a complete mess so went straight in the bin to be replaced with a new one in the future, :-)

front wings off

WP_20130616_003_zpsad10da46.jpg

good thing is that so far the underside of the car and the battery tray of the car are completely solid except a hole in each foot well that are ready to be welded when the mig welder arrives

passenger side

WP_20130616_005_zps96fc06d9.jpg

driver side has already had a patch before nut just welded straight over the rust so all rust cut out ready for new patch

practice welds with a borrowed arc welder......

I recently got a mig and my first welds just blew through the metal after getting the setting right a few hours practise my weld are no strong and don't look to bad. Just practise before you weld the car. Some good progress any plans?

Yeah arc is a bit extreme for something like a wing lol

  • Author

The wing was beyond repair so i was just using it for practice on but yes practice is needed considering the amount that needs to be done, plan is to get the bodywork looking like it has just left the factory then hopefully stick a carbed 1.4 16v in and a few bits and bobs along the way but any mods will be subtle

Exactly what I've done engine wise and the same colour coupe too check my poor build thread if you wish

I will do going to need as much advice and guidance as possible with this being my first proper project

made a head lining out of suede fabric and fitted it today

roughly held it in position with paper clips then used resin to bond it.

Ahah, Yeah right! What wheels have you got? Looking very slick! :D

thanks, the wheels are RH arrows which are very rare that i picked up from JregGT for a bargain price. they had been sand blasted so now i have the pain staking task of polishing them to a mirror shine and getting the inserts and insides sprayed gloss black.

hoping to get the engine in before the 5th of june when i take a 3 month road trip to tunisia in an ice cream van (thats another story though)
