Calvin's TDi

Featured Replies

Hi,

After being around on this forum for a while thought I'd finally start a thread.

I'm 17 and currently a student so can't see progress happening to fast although I do have a good idea of what I want to do to the car!

This is my first car and it's a 1.4 TDi in Satin Silver, I bought it with around 130,000 miles on the clock so there is a good sign of wear inside and out!

Only have one picture of it as it was when bought, from the ad

1db1d738850311e2913d22000a9e2892_7_zps8e

First thing to happen was the 15" bbs Solitude's off my brothers run around 6n and a honeycomb grill I had down the garage

1057892_396037817171588_1466311255_n_zps

Next to happen was some coilovers from my dads mates son

Just leaving them the same height until I get new wheels and tires as my wheel alignment is really bad and don't want to hammer through my tires

Next was some little mods:

New headunit:

Red GTi grill trim:

DSC_0981_zps3c86deba.jpg

and GTi gear knob and new gaiter:

DSC_0957_zps904209df.jpg

That's all for now...

Plans are to fit my lower honeycomb grills (just need fogs), a GTi splitter, and some new wheel (Currently looking at Bullet One's), a smoothed tailgate I need to paint and give my headlights a good restoring

Car will be getting a full respray soon aswell as repairing the few knocks around the body as it isn't looking its best

and then i'll finally move onto the interior

Here is some pictures of it sitting with my brothers golf, which some of you may recognise...

I am keeping the badge, I dont like it fully smoothed!

And the number plate recess will be going, I'm an apprentice in a bodywork garage so shouldn't be to hard to me to do!

Just a small update:

2013-07-03143437_zpseb09e6b6.jpg

My smoothed tailgate has been painted, not just need to refit the glass and then get it on!

also work should be started on my front bumper soon (smoothing, repaint and fit middle honeycomb grill) due to a tiny bump that has scratched the bumper up, so may aswell do it all at once

Not really an update,

but should be taken in to the bodyshop at the end of this week, where I am hopefully smoothing the whole thing and giving the car a fresh coat of paint as it is in a really bad state at the moment.

I am also then fitting my smoothed bootlid and new wing as now have space in the garage to do so

Aswell as refurbing some bbs rz's that My dad had down the garage

So hopefully in a few weeks the car will be unrecognisable! :D

Cars coming along well

I need some bodywork and smoothing doing :unibrow:

They're the bbs' off of a colour concept 6n2.

One of the wheels is badly damaged however I have bought a new one, so they should hopefully be on within a few days

I am going to get the polo sitting better on these with spacers and hopefully wind it down abit more!

Fuuuuu!! I'm after a set of these so ever get bored and look to buy another set keep me first in mind!!

So, I have decided to do abit of work to make the car look better on the outside,
It started with this:

2013-08-29094509_zps56ec5fe4.jpg
Started with a 500 grit disc, and worked up to a 1200 followed by a thin coat of lacquer, the results arn't perfect but as you can see, are alot better!

Then we had Edition, borrowed some of my dads d90's for the weekend

The car looked alright however just with the front was lower (rear couldn't be)

2013-09-02092800_zps52c577d8.jpg

Tight fit?

Edition then motivated me to get the car in the bodyshop at work and crack on, aswell as a few dents here and there, the main reason I wanted it in was due to a previous "halford's paintjob" resulting in two different colours on my car (Quick example)

2013-08-28143715_zpsac742a6b.jpg

Well you can kind of see it there!

Just a few progress pictures, should be finished soon

Lets start the new page with a big update..

First off I sourced some wheels from down the garage that I knew would be a good fit on the polo. However they wern't in the best condition
2013-09-08095839_zpsb6505a8e.jpg

Sent these off to get refurbed while the car was still in the workshop hoping to make it down to players
The powdercoater told me he had loads of problems with these so they hadn't been finished till the Friday before players
I then just grabbed the chunky 195/45's off my BBS solitudes to go on, so sorry for the lack of stretch, but this was the outcome!

2013-09-13152842_zps700d2334.jpg
Was really pleased with these, and If you seen it at Players, you'll probably have noticed the sparkle in the wheels, as I didn't want them to blend in with the car to much!

2013-09-14220013_zpsfc194b5f.jpg

At the time the wheels were being done, the car still hadn't been finished
So just a photo of it still in the booth

2013-09-10125843_zpsd92a3c85.jpg

The roof, tailgate and bonnet hadn't been painted for various reasons. I have still yet to put the smoothed tailgate on, the roof was fine, and the bonnet due to time!

So the car was done so was time to put it back together, well minus the front bumpstrip

2013-09-10140618_zpsececf8b5.jpg

2013-09-12100742_zps6b45d8f9.jpg

2013-09-11154817_zps6391cd74.jpg

and due to me wanting my car back I drove it round without the bumpstrip until that was done... Which was about 3 on Saturday with a deadline of Sunday!

2013-09-13104525_zps9cdc8a99.jpg

You've probably noticed that I had also sourced a gti splitter and front fogs!

Then Saturday came so it was time to get to work!

Had the wheels to put on aswell as a new brake setup all round
However, despite sending us 4 stud front brake discs, we got sent 5 stud rear discs so the rear is currently running really worn discs :D

I have upgraded to some 280mm discs up front, I think they have g60 calipers, however I'm not sure!

2013-09-14174328_zpsd852ee94.jpg

Then 9 o'clock we were finished!:p

2013-09-14215843_zps563a601e.jpg

That's it for now aswell as a few photo's of how it is now!
