is there any cheaper

with everything i have read i know some people have got a cheap ebay lead to work but looks like its hit and miss and with me its miss like most others

i havnt read anyone not getting a ross tech lead to work

That's the price for the genuine leads!! this company is selling "compatable leads" http://www.vag-diagnostics.com/sales.html but I've heard of varying success with them?? and they will only work with their version of VCDS

Ebay leads work fine, never had any issues with Vag-com not connecting

try DH gate... my mate bought one and he says it works fine but he also says you cant use it whilst your laptop is connected to the internet as updating the software breaks the cable.

though... 260 pound is pretty good for the amount of stuff you can do with it. Which is what I'm saving up for atm

EDIT: ^^ What Nige said.. but that website probably buys the stuff from dh gate as it looks just like the cd and cable my mate has

ordered the lead yesterday and got it this morning, took me only 10 mins to get it set up and turn the airbag light off

still got a fault with the ABS

01276 ABS hydraulic pump v64

012 electrical fault in circuit

So i bought a hand-held one, £18 off the bay, has done ABS and Airbag lights on four VAG cars now. Also helped me with an engine fault.

yeah checked them last night after reading about them on the ross tech site, they all look good

No, but with the wife's car for example it told me what the problem was (passenger side rear sensor). So i replaced it and then the light went out and has since stayed out. Also it locked up before when i tried it on wet grass, but now the ABS works.

I used to dread chasing down faults like this, but this thing makes it an easylife. Makes me wanna pay more for one and start concentrating on modern cars instead!

Remove the electrical connector on the pump and spray it with contact cleaner, usually a small amount of moisture gets in and corodes one or two of the pins.

I'm no expert but i wouldnt have thought so. I had and fault with my abs sensor and it showed this error

18265 - Load Signal: Error Message from ECU

P1857 - 000 - - - Intermittent

If it says ABS Pump it will be something to do with the pump

bit of an update, car was getting lowered at the weekend , took the plugs of the abs sensors and gave them a clean, noticed the brake pad wear wires were just bare, so we joined the ends and plugged the laptop in and the warning light on the centre of the dash was now out but the abs light was still on,

read all the codes and we now get

00285 abs wheel sensor front right (g45)

012 electrical fault in circuit

which now seems obvious where the fault is
