I came across this when fitting the powerflex bushes tonight. It doesn't make sense how the joint even got pressed in, as the TCA bores are usually double-tapered to accomodate 2 part bushes.

I've been looking for these ever since, as it seems a more stable joint, but I'm not able to find them anywhere online. Does such a thing exist or is it likely a bodge job?

Are these not the original rose jointed tca's fitted to g40s?

Ahh that makes sense. It looks like you don't get them anymore as replacement items.

Think I'll just keep it in as it isn't worn anyway. I figured after 110K it would all have been replaced at some point.

Standard G40 item would have been rose jointed, last ones I saw for sale were £200+ i think there is a company that makes them but cant remember the name or if there still around even

I have heard rumours that there is a company that will press out your old ball joint and press a new one in meaning you wouldn't need to buy new arms just get the ball joint replaced when it goes

I will continue my search for this company as I'm sure they are more than a rumour from what I've picked up off some of the ford forums

So if anybody has any info on this please let me know

I've been looking too, even through general engineering suppliers like RS and Brammer, but nobody has even the Rose Joint.

If you find out anymore please let me know. I'm really keen to fit them.

Can you Put a pic up as I've never actually seen a genuine rose jointed g40 item

My car is fully rose jointed now but that's completely different to yours

If I have to take the TCA off again, I will post a photo, but the anti roll bar assembly was a vajeen to get back on, so no pics just now .

It would be very easy to mod the arm and source a suitable joint for not a lot of money.

Even if the rose joint is slightly too small machining a sleeve is easy to make it fit.

Trust me have fitted enough bushes/rose joints from various cars onto others as they're a suitable rate for what was wanted, and if I can sell them for £200 I'm gonna make fuck loads if someone's willing to pay so much for something so simple

I've already got some standard ones in the process of being modified to run inner rose joints

Just wanted to see what the gen g40 items look like

Yeah but for people who have equipment and some basic knowledge it's not exactly hard though lol.

Find a rose joint suitable, machine arm so it's the correct interference fit, press rose joint in.

People frequently get mugged off by people saying things are harder than they are and charging a premium. With the customer not knowing any better. They're relying on the seller/manufacturer to price it accordingly, once you'd done one set it would be cheap and repetitive to knock loads out. But then again I guess some people would find another random rose jointed arm, cut it off and try welding to the polo arm, then spacing it out with washers or something to suit the body.

So if you can use some basic measuring equipment, a phone book and a phone, a milling machine and a press, voila, rose jointed TCAs

I also forgot every other person does engineering and has access to all the equipment required

Just because you do doesn't make it easy for every one

Look at how many members there are on this site and then see how many of them are modifying their cars to the extent which is beyond lowering, wheels and straight engine conversions.

It's generally a small population of us that can do it and because we are known to each other on here we take each others skills for granted really

Also to the point of over pricing for a job it depends on the company doing it an what their profit margin is

For example an skf bearing could be £20 but the Chinese equivalent is only £2.50

Why can skf demand such a high price yet in essence and practice the end product is the same

I have a couple of spare arms in the boot for exactly this, to try and make a set of rose jointed ones up. I can find bearings no problem, and I'm pretty sure I have the intellect to work out how to make this all work. Guess what's stopping me; equipment. I have people who I know can press a bearing in/out however, but I just haven't got round to getting up there, enough to do for now!

It really isn't that 'easy' if you don't have the kit or even the know how. We all started from nowhere. It's all very well to be condescending when you do have the equipment and/or training but not everyone is 'blessed' with this Why don't we get back to being helpful

I have done it in the past - talking from experience unlike a lot of people here who randomly go on what they've once read from a non reliable source.

I hate people being ripped off thinking something is more difficult than it is - but if I can sell some rose jointed arms for £200 each costing around £80 to make and around an hours labour a pair then bring it on ...

Being helpful by explaining something's more simple than it may be made out, effectively stopping people being mugged off, lol, taken the wrong way as usual yay

and its more the fact people generally like to just buy something they can fit and not have to put the effort into making or sorting it out
