Wanted: ARC or AVY engine

Featured Replies

Looking for a 1.6 GTI engine block from a 6N2 - can collect, but I don't want to be going too far from Lincolnshire if I have to (not the most efficient vehicle in the world for it!) Needs all the internals (oil pump, crank, pistons etc), water pump, breather, rear water pipes and coolant bridge, but not so worried about sump or head

What have you?

Sorted now - no longer required!

got one for £250 with 87k on the clocks.

If your doing the hybrid engine you want the AVY the ARC is a pain to work with ..... if it is the hybrid and you need a hand or anything...I'm on lincs vag and willing to help out as i did it in my 6n

well thats bullshit...

mines an ARC....

its the same engine?!?!?!

There's two types of ARCs. Not like it matters as it's all sorted if you read post #2

Cheers peeps, yes I'll be hybridising an AFH head onto a 1.6 bottom end, main reason for going with the ARC/AVY is so I can run it as a complete engine while I sort the head out (yes, there's extra work going on there, all will be revealed in good time), any of the later 1.6 engine would do the job as they all run the same crank and has the gubbins I need for the standalone ECU to get the most out of it. What I could do with is some pointers for where to get a lightweight flywheel (no, I'm not sticking it on a lathe and removing material - I run flat out all the time and I've seen catastrophic flywheel failures)

Lighter than which flywheel? The mk2/f flywheels are a lot lighter than the ahf/avy flys

Lol, I had a lightened 6n fly, got a mk3 fly and lightened that too, I'm sure they're about the same weight now :| can take a lot more out of 6n one

Sell me lightened one yeah ? safe

Wait let me get this straight, you're telling me you can take more weight of a flywheel that has more meat on it to begin with?...

:p

^ Is this actually possible surely that against the laws of physics :/

could always weld something to the flywheel so you can take more off. seems legit

its the same engine?!?!?!

no its not the ARC had extra sensors and ran different bhp standard.....so theres your bullshit - am sure youll give some major technical reason why I'm wrong or someone else will but hey ho, like i give a shit!!!

there both 125bhp?! lol the AVY is better on emmisions than an ARC, what sensors?!?! there is fuck all there? i nly recall there being one sensor on mine which i gather is the nock sensor. so madly differenttttt!

and if your making a hybrid youd use the afh head? so youll have the same sensors either way....

but i dont give a shit either thats why i replied as if i gave a shit
