Finally got my first car aged 22, and its a LUPO!

Featured Replies

hey guys

bought my first car today

a tidy 2002 vw lupo 1.4S

runs well and is pretty clean overall.

few things i need to sort,

- radio needs a code

- slight rattling when idle

- bit of a clunk when going over speedbumps sounds like its coming from the front right

- couple little things like cupholder, door trim etc loose

(any ideas on what might cause the rattling would be amazing)

will upload pics tomorrow after a clean

anyway. I'm very excited to have finally got my first car. now just need it insured so i can get on the road again!!

Congratulations! The following may be useful, although the cars are almost identical:

yehhh thanks.

I'm a member on there too but i figured id ask some questions on here too as there seems to be a lot more active members and the engine in my lupo is very similar, if not the same as the 6n engine. (i think)... probably wrong.

More likely the 6n2. What's your engine code?

its the 2002 1.4S 16V

sorry dont know what code. where can i find this?

I like Lupos.

I joined club loop but all I found was abuse and general sarcasm.

The two are very similar, that's why I'm on here.

I put up a link for clublupo but it seems not to be here.. I was only being helpful but I admit I don't understand the car. It has a tiny boot, less seats than the polo, and heavier than my polo even if I was carrying three adults the Lupo is heavier than a MK2 golf. So i'd like to know what people see in them.

Shame about clublupo, we hear this all the time. Seems there's a real problem on there. Well coming to a different model camp should provoke some hostility but I assure you this site is superb for the attitude of those here.

The Lupo is matched technically with the 6n2 polo which ran from 1999-2002. It's easy to spot by having cosmetically the same dashboard.

You need more Lupo love Mikey.

I have a Seat Arosa in my life, my cousin is welcome to rely on me to keep her rolling but that motor is more than enough for me for now.

Maybe she should join club lupo?

Club Lupo is much better, I had a rant about all the flaming putting off the noobs & giving us a bad reputation & they seem to have chilled out a bit.

Lupos are awesome, I took Mrs Koop's headrests out of the back of her 6n2 the other week & had to pull the seats forward to do so which I don't have to do in my Lupo, thus they actually have more rear headroom than the Polo! Basically it's a lighter, quicker, better handling 6n2.

Go kart FTW!

Yeah but they still weigh more than a mk3 golf  and if you put 2 people in a Lupo, it weighs the same as a mk4 golf haaha!!

Pretty sure your engine code is AFK... not 100% on that though. Think there the same as the 16v 100bhp 6n2's... again not 100% just food for thought.

yeh clublupo seems to be friendly enough but obviously being a lot smaller than here the help is harder to come by.

I've not even had a chance to drive my lupo yet but I'm hoping it'll be quite a nippy little gokart.

welcome!

i joined clublupo a while back and i dont go on now (mainly because i haven't got a lupo...) but there was quite a few people who just chose to be a total bitch for no reason.

you get bitchyness on here, but it only really happens when people are being rediculously stupid, then when they're told that they're being a fag or what they're doing is dangerous, they get defensive and start slagging people off. then its just a free-for-all.. but its fun

where does the rattle come from on idle? as for the knock, does it only happen on bumps? it may be a top mount on the way out or a bush or something like that. and the loose bits might just be missing screws or snapped clips. worst case scenario, you can pick trim bits up fairly cheap on here or clublupo.

haha yeh i guess you can expect that wherever you go on the internet!

the rattle seems to be hunting. the car is in for a service today so hopefully they will have a look around and see whats up.

the clunking only happens over bumps yeh. sounds as if I've run over a wire coat hanger when it happens. so maybe something is loose.

cheers for the advice anyway.

and heres a pic of the little thing IMG_3228.jpg

Looks a tidy little car buddy any other pictures ie interior etc?
