So, I'm starting my final year of a masters degree in design engineering in September and we have to choose an individual design project (this can be anything). One of my ideas has been to design an inclusive transportation system for bikes, snowboards, ski's and possibly surfboards. As far as I know you have to buy all these things separately to attach to roof bars or the rear of the car, which can be fairly expensive! I'm just wanting to gauge thoughts from people if you think this is something worthwhile or even needed.

Make sure they have a big notice to warn/remind the driver the bikes are on the roof when entering say a car park with a height restriction bar.....

Ski and snowboard attachment is largely the same idea, 2 cushioned bars that clamp down on the flat object but not sure how this would work for bikes. Bike racks can be used to hold canoes but then there is a canoe accessory that looks like a half metal oval.

Or perhaps a shock sensor and loud speaker, so if the bike should contact a height restriction it says

yeh, imperative that you A - remember its on the roof and B - dont go under a height restriction.
