so basically i just want to know the advantages and disadvantages of hydraulics and air ride and to compare the two:

cost difference

problems that can occur

fitting difficulty etc

i want to upgrade to either hydraulics or air ride but am undecided between the two!

If air leaks its just air

If hydro leaks its oil everywhere

On the plus side if hydro leaks you know where the leak is easily traceable

Whereas if you get an air leak it can be a right bitch to find and solve

Neither is more reliable they both consists of the same components. I personally would go air as its much cleaner to install and to work with however the bags them selves are a weak component. We're as hydro it's just a shock.

I would still stick with static though to many people going air nowadays I would rather look good everywhere rather than just parked up

Only been in one car with hydros it was a toyota mini truck, completely sweetride with a pretty decent sus set up. Only problem is with Hydros you need a fair amount of batterys to power it (the bed of the truck had about 4 leisure batterys). Air is more compact and does effectively the same job although you loose roll stiffness , coils are more for handling characteristics.

You can tune air springs just like a coil spring, probably feel to roll more as people drive around with them at a higher height to fixed height suspension.

Air leaks shouldn't really occur if it's installed properly, leak detection spray makes it very easy to find leaks too.

i guess the main goal is to sit it on the floor ahaha

i will be getting a daily so the polo being off the road wont affect me, just want to bring the standard of it up.

i think i'm leaning closer to air ride and could probably get a deal with the kit and fitting

What else though?

Do you just want to drop front and rear, individual corners, good ride quality? Good handling?

Slow/fast to raise up etc?

the main advantage of hyrdo in my opinion is making the car bounce, which is a very good party trick but like you say can end up damaging shit.

i'm quite chill about the whole thing so air is probably looking a bit brighter to me

Air probably is the way to go for you but get a kit with decent management as it will not only give you better control over your system but also allow you to tune the ride of the car a lot better than a basic setup

You wouldn't cause any damage with Hydro's unless you wanted too, making it bounce without preping the shell to take it would be the easiest way to achieve this
