This is basically copy and paste from another forum but hopefully it will all make sense!

Some of you may recognise this or know the previous owners. Well, after having a chat with Alex it's mine and here she is in her new home next to the parents hunk of crap P38

Considering I didn't view the car before handing over any cash and the first time I saw it was when it was delivered to me by a great chap called Alan I don't think I've done too badly. There are a few little bits I didn't know about but nothing that can't be sorted. Alex chucked a few extra bits in there he didn't have too either, so big thanks to Alex!

The 1.3 powerplant

It hasn't started in 8 years so I may replace it with another 1.3 rather than mess about with this one. Time with tell, will see how handy I feel with the spanners. Worse part is the battery tray but the repair panel is only £22 so not bad at all

Interior has definitely seen better days so this will be replaced with a tasty set of Recaro's at a later date. For now there's a bit of a pong in there so I'll be cleaning it all up

Progress will be slow as I'm currently in the process of restoring and respraying the step mothers Austin Mini. Alongside joining the army and being 19 so insurance will no doubt kill when it comes too it!

So the idea for today was to get the front end stripped down to have a look at the battery tray area, get the grinder out and cut out the rotten metal ready for a repair panel to go in.

Well upon stripping the car, I now know it needs a small repair on the slam panel and a new radiator aswell as a few little bits and pieces of wiring that need replacing. Anyhow a pic of how the Jetta is currently sitting

Leaving the passengers side looking like this. It looks like it has rotten all the way forward to where it bolts to the wing so I may need a small piece alongside having a new battery tray welded in

I got fed up with the manky smell, mold and cobwebs inside the car so I thought it was about time I stripped it out and gave it a good clean. At this point I would like to add I hate spiders and cobwebs!

I got the rear out and then gave in, it's about 22 degrees and even warmer inside the car!

Doorcards out came out pretty easily, I love the simplicity of this car. Sadly the fabric has come away on the rear doorcards and they are all rather faded so I'm thinking about getting them retrimmed at some point

Only small cause for concern but a welder has said it should plate over easily enough

Small bits of surface rust under the rear seats but there's no worries there either

So small update from today, got the two front seats out with no issues and then pulled out the rear carpet. Thankfully all is clean under here other than on the seat rails so I'll give them a quick tidy up and spray over aswell as under the rear seats I think

Then I was pretty much ordered to do some work on the step mothers mini so tomorrow's job is to get the front carpet piece out and to get the dash out aswell. Then I can access the whole floorpan situation, order up some spray and get the new dashboard in.

But anyway, cleaned one on the right after a wipe with some baby wipes and a scrub with a toothbrush

Okay so another, boring update time.

After getting the rear carpet out it was covered in mold and cobwebs and the interior of the car stank so it needed a clean desperately. After 2 and a half hours they look a little more like this, not perfect by any means but a little more acceptable

So I took the passenger side front wing off so that I could get access to weld the battery tray and chassis leg up a little better. After taking this side wing off I thought it'd be better to take both front wings off, remove all the underseal and renew it aswell as it was beginning to crack and show some signs of age.

Thankfully behind the wings isn't too bad, drivers side is just surface rust, passengers side has a small hole so I'll attack them with a wire wheel and get them cleaned up at some point

I've heard good stuff about this stuff so I've ordered a few litres to do the front arches and I'll do the rear arches when I get a disc rear axle sorted

Now onto the goodies!

I bought a set of quarter windows from Too Many Cars on here, I won't use the glass as all of mine have the number plate etched on but I'll switch all the seals over as mine are a bit past there best

I also picked up a mint dashboard which should be with me shortly. I'm hoping to get the engine running and be able to test the heater so if there are any problems I can sort them while the dashboard is off rather than having to pull it all off again at a later date

I've also picked myself up a lovely nardi wheel to neaten up my interior a little. If anyone has a small spline boss for sale drop me a PM!

Like I said on edition, I cannot wait to see this done! really wish I didn't sell it lol
