Heat gun, hot but not boiling water poured over the glue and gently prise them off with a plastic scraper

Toffee wheel to remove the remaining crap

This is what I've heard, I normally try the heat gun method, get pissed off and rip them off, it takes a while!

Yeh that's the best method, dental floss also works well at getting between the strips and bodywork. You will need that toffee wheel which is a rubber drill attachment to get the rest of the glue off.

Also be aware that the paint underneath might be a different shade (or possibly totally different colour!) seeing as it hasn't ever been exposed to the elements.
