Is reading a challenge for some people?! That setup ran on the same rollers on the same day as other AAVs and 3Fs, and made 10-15bhp more than the other AAVs. Ergo, it made a difference, despite the lack of GT cam. The 3Fs made ~85bhp, which is about right for a GT when compared with 10 years or so of Aldon data.

Either way, the 3F MPI system meant a healthy and otherwise stock AAV made more power than stock AAVs and less power than 3Fs. Not really that hard to understand?!

Others had upgraded NZs to 3F injection and fitted the 3F cam prior to my AAV conversion with good results. Paul Borthwick did it to his red saloon before its G40 conversion, and there was someone called Jen that had it done to her car too - which I think was 80-something bhp.

just a bit strange that it made gt power without the cam, extra compression ect, but if you say so lol

better give dart strife a cuddle before he beats me up

I believe he is some sort of MMA expert.

You could moreorless do anything involving throwing away the pierburg carb to make a 1.3 mk2 better. Webber conversion...spi conversion...mpi conversion I have done them all with varying degress of improvements. Even the SPI made a difference, no cat, better metering of fuel etc it went well for what it was. No rocket ship but but an improvement for sure. Whether it was worthwhile is not is debatable but lets be positive! :)

Good for him haha

I'm just suprised about the gains thats all. Didnt think itd make much difference. I still think its alot of effort but it depends on the person in question i guess

You continue to surprise me with your surprise about things.

I am suprised that i suprise you! Haha.

Carbs ftwwwww haha.

Gt cam made such a big difference in mine though!

Mine too, but that was because it was replacing an AAU camshaft, in an already quite high spec engine.

I don't know how well the injection systems adapt to the extra lift/duration the GT cam has compared to the lesser items, probably very well. But with carbs and a wideband AFR gauge, I was quickly able to slightly re-tune the main circuit to bring in a bit more fuel and the difference in performance was black and white.

But just to add, if your wanting a performance camshaft, id sack the GT cam off and go for a 268/272 newman.
