So what is it?

Its a J plate, what i used to call the mk3. But have been told its a mk2 facelift. somebody please put me straight on this.

I bought it on the bay, 1.0 coupé. rust free, 57000 miles full history 2 owners. Blue, all keys, some tiny dings, to body and lacquer peel on the bonnet. Interior is mint. MOT and tax (short but better than nothing). Only other fault is a badly slipping clutch, not a problem as will be sorted when the engine and box out for detailing. Won it for 270.

The plans are a father son project, ground up rebuild. replacing all suspension, brakes, bushes, ball joints, gators, cam belt, service, respray, wheels and tyres, re-trim or diff interior, shit this ain't gonna be cheap! We got 12 months to sort it and ill only be working on it with his help. NOT solo!

Will be searching through this club for ideas, help, anything i can get. I am an engineer by trade and put my hands to most things except painting.

Have knowledge to give out as have restored and owned a few mk1 golfs.

Travelled with a trailer from Bristol to Abergele, N Wales, 8 hour round trip.

Welcome to the forum.

Being J reg ('91) would make it a Mk2f. There's a lot of people that when they read 'Mk3' think of 6n's (1994-2000). I find it a lot easier to find parts and ask questions on here by using Mk2f or the year.
