so I've decided i need a more economical car, and I've always fancied a lupo. so i put on the club lupo fb page that i wanted to swap, expecting maybe one or two people wanting to swap standard older lupos/arosa's.

so a day or two later a guy says to me he wants to straight swap his 53 plate (2004) seat arosa s 1.0 with coilovers and alloys. i was amazed at first, but i am really unsure as to whether this guy is genuine. from what i can find, the arosa mk2 is worth about £1500 standard, and with his being a 2004 and having coilovers I'm sure its probably worth more, where as my standard 1.0 4speed polo isnt worth anywhere near £1000. his arosa does have 119,000 miles, but my polo has 117,000 miles.

he says its mechanicaly spot on, but I'm really unsure whether i beleive him. I'm not saying this guy is a liar and he is going to rip me off ect ect. I'm just very cautious about it. I'm going to meet him near carlisle on saturday and just want to know what you guys would do/think?

am i just being over worried, or am i right to be worried. i dont want to swap my perfectly good polo for a heap of crap.

I personally would not do a swap on a car as its often more hassle than its worth. If you do iI would want to see v5, two keys and history on his car and I would also think about hpi. 120k is a lot of miles for a 1 litre petrol engine.

If you do decide to swap then at least give yourself some time after viewing to think about it.

i have done a HPI check, came up all clear, 3 owners, and one was his girlfriend, so only one owner before she got it. so hopefully all is well, I'm taking a load of mates with me anyway. so we will see tomorrow.
