Pretty sure if you have scrapped it and its not a category B then someone can buy it, fix it up and use it. So not alot really, Is it still in your name?

If he scrapped it correctly then scrap man will have had v5

But Wont he of had to send the 'Scrapped' Part of the V5 to the dvla?

Unless you sold it to a breakers yard and gave them the V5.

Either way, you wanted rid & you got rid.

I'm waiting for the v5 form to come as I only had the green slip of the v5 which I give to the bloke that took the car also I wrote a letter to the dvla to tell them I scrapped the car

The green slip is for new registered keepers, there is a separate section on the log book for scrapping the car.

So essentially you've just sold the car on.

You should go down to the local dvla office and speak to them and see what they say.

What does it matter? As already said you wanted rid and they gave you money for it. Its theirs now and they can do what they like with it

A letter to the dvla generally means nothing. I sent 4 letters over a good 12 months telling them I had scraped a car and never once heard back off them. One time I even put the letter in with another log book I was sending off and got a confirmation letter about that one but not the one I was still trying to scrap. That was about 4 years ago and the car is still in my name and I'm still having to sorn it every year so I don't get find
