Software update?

Featured Replies

I took my car to the garage this morning as I have run out of ideas why it is misfiring (changed coil pack, leads, plugs, o2 sensor)

I told the guy that it was a polo misfiring and he said likely to be a software update needed.

Do these exist for 6N2 GTI's? I can imagine they do for the newer models but not these. Also he quoted £90 +VAT to do it, fair price? To be fair to him he didn't know what year so he could have jumped the gun and assumed it was for a newer polo as I've never heard of it for the 6N2...

I don't think there is one for that engine. Have you had a compression test done?

When do you get the misfire? at idle speed, under power or what?

If it is more at idle speed, it COULD be down to a vacuum leak on the inlet manifold or brake servo/pipe.

If it is when you are making the engine work for a living, it COULD be down to a restricted fuel filter.

It would pay to put it on VagCom and see if there are any fault codes.

Regards.
